Botania is a mod that focuses on flowers, with two types of flora: functional and Mystical Flowers. Glimmering Flowers can be crafted into Floating Flowers, while some functional flowers can be shrinked to their Petite variant by dropping them into Mana Pool with Alchemy Catalyst. In this video, we discuss the mechanics of creating functional flowers and their functions.
Mystical Petals are items from the mod Botania, with 16 different colors each corresponding to a dye color from Minecraft. In versions prior to version 238, pure Botania can be used. A drum of the wild will activate when hit with a mana pulse, breaking all flowers except for Botania.
Botania is excellent for dyes if you have a constant supply of bonemeal. Find the recipe for floral fertilizer, craft the flower with the desired color, plant it on the ground, bonemeal it to grow a new flower, and use shears to harvest. Flowers are generally divided into Mystical Flowers, which are generated in the world and raw material for crafting. Mixing floral powders in Minecraft yields the corresponding vanilla dye object, but placing a floral powder into a workbench does not.
Plucking petals off flowers can also be crushed into the corresponding dyes. Recipes for crafting the White Dye can be found in the book.

Just letting you know that the seeds for the floating Island doesn’t just change the color but acts as a timer on how the plants you make for those floating island works kinda like a delay timer for a redstone repeater. For me i never knew that changing the color of the floating islands had any effect on how the plants on those islands work till i learn it from a infinite mana generator which you can look up the name “Surviving With Botania, Infinite Mana Generating Tree Farm” Which explains how to make it. :3 Anyway i currently playing the updated version for 18.2 and going to test to see what still works and what’s been changed, so far as expected that some of the visuals been change a bit especially the flowers which made it a bit difficult to know what i was looking for since it was change a bit much then i am use to which kinda makes me worried if anything was nerf in it’s update >.>; … Anyway wish anyone that reads this good positive days with safe travels and better health always :3
Let’s say you want to build an automatic cow farm. So you place your pollidisiac down, put an open crate above it with some wheat being fed into it, put down a bellethorn in the corner so you kill some of the adults, and then you place down a hopperhock to pick up the items. Now if you don’t want to be losing wheat, you will put your hopperhock near that open crate. The problem is, you don’t want the hopperhock to prevent the pollidisiac from working. So, to ensure that the pollidisiac gets priority on the wheat, you put podzol or mycelium underneath the hopperhock to ensure that the pollidisiac gets first dibs on any items that drop within its vicinity, That is one use case for the delay mechanic. There are more use cases but I don’t feel like listing more than one.
The vinculotus isnt OP imo. The amount of ender pearls you need for Botania. You need that plant. Unless your already able to get to the end. The vinculotus helps prevent endermen from pick up blocks. Which got me thinking they should really make an item for Vanilla minecraft to prevent endermen from pickup blocks. And the item should work in a big radius not just 5 by 5 of something daft like that. It would just helps the players not getting there landscape ruined by endermen.
Pro tip : go read the wiki page about Flowers. A combination of X/Y coordinates will spawn only ONE type of flower with a bone meal, meaning you will have to build a few machines at differents spots in Flower Forest to get all the flowers from this biome. Swamp biomes can only spawn Blue Orchids, which don’t have this problem. Great build, and as ever, very concise et well-explained article. Keep it up !
I had to try out diffrent spots with bonemeal to see what flowers grew. I both do and dont wish someone told me before i started 🙂 First build, randomly i only got red and yellow Second build, thought i was smart, built it randomly in flower forest wich gave me tulips only. orange, red, yellow and light grey Third build i tried spots to see where i got blue, too relief lapis as dye source. works like a charm. Thanks for serving me this easy! Im now a happy owner of three flower farms
This farm is awesome! I converted it into a warped fungus farm by changing the dirt for warped nylium and putting a pillar 1 block above the center block (the one that has the dispenser under it) so that it didn’t cause any warped mushrooms to grow up. I also added a layer 2 blocks above the rest of the growing area to keep warped vines from growing high (just in case it affected anything).
Tip: Since diffrent flowers spawn in diffrent biomes, build this farm in a flower forest if possible. Apparently, since about version 1.19, you can probably only get 2-3 types of flowers to spawn on your farm. If you want diffrent types, you must build more farms in diffrent places. Build them on the soil the flower you want was naturaly growing on, that should work. Still working in 1.20.4 <3
A good tip 👍 Don’t just make it in flower biome… first find the specific flowers you need in the biome. (They should be there naturally) go a few blocks to the sky and built the farm How it works is that the if you bonemeal a grass block at the perfect place where is/was a specific flower, the same flower will come (sometimes only grass just destroy it and try bonemeal again)😁 I hope it helped…
Here’s a good tip to convert to seeds into bonemeal directly into the chest: Place a hopper that leads into the chest, then place a composter on top of that hopper and then place a hopper going into (I do from the top but other directions might work too) the composter and place your seeds in that hopper (if you have a lot of seeds then maybe even place a chest on top of the hopper where you put the seeds in
this man is literally the best redstone farmer EVER Now you might think that im over exaggerating but wallahi this man makes it look so easy AND IT IS 1. Literally no talking with calm music 2. One of the things that makes it even better, is its SURVIVAL it takes ALOT of work for this and i respect that
This farm doesn’t only work for dyes, but also for get suspicious stew, you can craft it with a bowl, a brown mushroom, a red mushroom, and a flower. The flower gives the effect to the stew, I don’t remember exactly which flower gives which effect, but for example, the dandelion gives saturation (which makes the suspicious stew with this flower the best food in my opinion), the cornflower gives jump boost and the allium gives fire resistance 😉
I’ve used this article many times for making an expansive flower/dye empire on my server. Recently, I learned that warped and crimsion fungus can be harvested with bonemeal. So I used your flower farm to grow them. Instead of grass, I used a half/half mix of Crimson Nylium and Warped Nylium. Works awesome.
thank you so much shulkercraft for this farm i needed this farm so much because i had to make colored fireworks for a party in my minecraft smp 😀 also i needed thousands of arrows so instead of crafting them i made a super mob drop farm from u guys and now i also have a alot of bones i will convert them into bone meal and use them for this superb farm thanks shulkercraft again u made my life so much easier 😀
1.17 FIX: So I’m sure that there are better ways of fixing this if it isn’t working in Bedrock 1.17. But What I did was add redstone coming from both sides (connected to the noteblock) and added a button for each side. That way when I pushed one button, the pistons were activated on the side I pushed and the dispenser also planted new crops. Then I would push the other button and the process would repeat on the other side. It isn’t as fast as this example made here, but you can still make it go pretty quickly depending on how fast you can push the buttons. It is a solution that lets it still work, it is just manual and a little bit slower. EDIT: For better results, bring both lines of redstone together and connect them to one button. Then Add a redstone repeater on either side, setting one side to take a little longer to activate than the other. If you push the button once, then it will move the pistons on one side first and then the other ones as well a second later. It will do this twice per button push.
Well that was much easier to build than I was expecting! I tried to be clever and put a hopper minecart collection system below it too but it makes drops way too fast and can’t reach certain blocks. It’s grand though, I’ll stand in it. Also, set up a spot I can throw seeds into to make more bone meal.
I recommend adding an 8th hopper and a composter to that material list and having a composter next to the bonemeal chest with the 8th hopper underneath connecting to the hopper under the chest as the 8th hopper can pull bonemeal from the composter and you can dump all the seeds u get into the composter.
Warning. If you’re on Minecraft 1.19 and Bedrock. It will not work the same way as in the article. You will have to make some adjustments to the noteblock parts. In my personal experience. When I got it working by jiggy rigging it, all it gave me was seeds and dandelions. Not sure if that’s due to this farm, or the biome I’m in.
Note: Before you build this farm, check what flowers grow in the biome (according to mc wiki, plains, sunflower plains and flower forests are the best choices). Don’t be like me and blindly build it, just to get “just” a few stacks of seeds and blue orchids on the first test run. Though still, the results are impressive.
It a very good idea, but i think this should be mobile, because some of the place only have 3-4 kinds of flower, so the fences is not necessary to bring with And also if you in Bedrock you may need to bring Sticky Piston with you, somehow the note block doesn’t work with the observer But Thanks any way for this awesome idea <3
I’m playing on 1.18 java and I was excited to try this cause i want to make a lot of dyed concrete. Imagine my surprise when it doesn’t work at all 🙁 the dirt moves back and forth really quickly and bone meal just shoots out instead of applying it to the grass blocks. Does anyone know if its just me, or it this was patched so this farm no longer works. sucks cause i built this farm in survival instead of testing in creative first like i usually do.
Tried this on ps4 console and it didn’t work with the note blocks the observers didn’t even detect any change in it.. until I broke the note note blocks. So I connected pistons that push a redstone block into it but I couldn’t figure out how to set it up where it did it one after another without pushing buttons which isnt ideal.. Please help me with a solution for this..
