In winter, it is recommended to stop watering succulents indoors and allow the soil to dry out. Succulents prefer a bright spot and should be kept away from drafts or chilly windows. Humidity levels should be around 40 to 50, and plants kept inside or in warm greenhouses during winter should be kept in dormancy.
When succulents live indoors, water them when the soil is dry, which can be as infrequent as once per month. The frequency of watering depends on the size of the container and the amount of moisture it can hold. Cold weather means that the soil stays wet longer, so they will not need to be watered as frequently. To help them thrive in winter, water them every 7-10 days.
The “Soak and Dry” method applies to full-year growth for succulents, which is not in winter. However, it is generally best to only water when the soil is completely dry. Allow the plants to go several days, even a week or two. Watering should be done in moderation, applying a small amount of water along the edges of the pot.
In winter, adjust the watering schedule for cooler, darker months. Succulents will be dormant during this time, so it is essential to water them less often and on the wet side. This will help your succulents radiate vitality even in the coldest months.
