Peegee Hydrangeas Bloom When?

Peegee hydrangea, also known as Hydrangea paniculata ‘grandiflora,’ is a popular and easy-to-plant plant that blooms in midsummer from July to October. The plant produces large cone-shaped flowers clustered together, which change color over time, just like the leaves. The plant can grow up to 15 feet tall and requires at least 4 hours of sun each day for proper blooming. However, too much sun can cause leaves to become scorched.

Peegee hydrangea trees are relatively easy to care for and are drought-tolerant once established. They bloom on new wood, so they should be pruned in early spring to form flower buds on the new growth. The enormous, creamy white, conical flowers bloom in mid to late summer and become pink as they age. As autumn shows signs of progress and nights become cooler, the flowers begin to bloom in mid-late spring in zone 8/9.

The Peegee hydrangea is full shrubs with large, white flower clusters that last through July and August. They are similar to daylilies, blooming every year, no matter what weather conditions. They do best in full sun but will still show a good show in part. The large ovate leaves turn an attractive yellow color when few other landscape plants are blooming.

In summary, peegee hydrangeas are a beautiful and easy-to-plant plant that thrives in a variety of light and soil conditions. They are drought-tolerant and can reach heights of 25 feet.
