Hubbard’s Greenhouse is opening its doors for Mother’s Day Weekend, Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, 8:00-6:00, and Sunday, May 8, 9:00-4:00. The greenhouse is located at the former Thompson Gardens, 15 Princeton Road in Sterling, and offers a wide variety of annual, perennial, trees, and yard art. The greenhouse is open from 12 to 4 pm, rain or shine, and will be open on Sunday 1 pm – 4 pm.
Thomsen’s Garden Center, ranked No.2 on Tripadvisor among six attractions in Saint Joseph, also opens its doors on the first day of April every year. The center grows and sells flowers, vegetable seedlings, herbs, decorative plants, shrubs, trees, bags of soil and fertilizer, and a variety of plants. The outdoor space features a pond and immaculately landscaped grounds around it.
The ideal summer temperature for a greenhouse is 75-85° F during the day and 60-76° F at night. In winter, this temperature changes to 65-70° F. The greenhouse also has a new shade greenhouse, which will be open from 9-5pm on Saturday, October 14th.
The community greenhouse fundraiser is typically held the week before Mother’s Day, from 4:15-6pm. The shop will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Ordering flowers and picking the right arrangement can be challenging, especially for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day. The shop covers all kinds of occasions where it’s important to choose the right arrangement.
