Promoting root growth in a baby curry leaf plant involves proper watering, well-draining soil, fertilization, root pruning, adequate sunlight, temperature and humidity control, and propagation through cuttings. Early spring is the best time to transplant a curry leaf plant into a new container, and if necessary, do it on a cloudy day during morning hours. If growing in the USA, Canada, or Europe, move the plant into a new pot each year to promote healthy growth.
Propagation is an essential process for curry leaf plants, as they continuously grow to fit the size of their container. To fix the roots, trim and leave the plant for a few days. Underwatered curry leaf plants look like wilted leaves, bent, yellow leaves, so it is important to remove them.
To propagate curry leaf plants effectively, maintain high humidity around the cutting by covering the pot with a plastic bag or placing it in a mini greenhouse. This creates a nurturing, spa-like atmosphere, encouraging root growth without waterlogging the plant.
When taking any cuttings, supply them with a free draining medium (grit) that will supply the developing roots with lots of oxygen. Insert the leaf petiole into clean potting medium and keep it warm, moist, and humid until it shows new growth. Reduce the humidity as needed.
To maximize the number of plants, unto the whole root mass by removing most of the soil from the root mass and using a sharp pair of scissors. Make a potting mix of 60 potting soil and 40 compost to ensure the plant gets enough nutrients while it grows. Re-grow a curry leaf plant by taking a stem, seed, or sucker instead of buying a new plant every time.

Thanks very much for this, really good clear instructions as well as the general information about the curry leaf plants. Our curry plant suddenly put up 4 babies and I was worried about removing them, because the roots are so long. So the article was really good because it gives you an idea of how much force to apply to the plant and what to do with that long root. Thanks again.
So this past summer I had 2 curry leaf plants. Unfortunately, I’d gone away on business during the hottest day of the summer (110 degrees Fahrenheit) and I watered the plants as soon as I got back home. The end result, one plant completely dried out no matter how much I watered it. The other one seemed to have survived. I set aside the dead curry leaf plant by the side of the house and took the other one indoors and it is thriving. Much to my astonishment, here we are in November and temperatures of 35°F-65°F and I see green baby curry leaf plant growing beside the dried up dead curry leaf plant. What should I do?
Hey I had got some curry leaf saplings from my place and didn’t have accessories to grow them so kept it in water for 2-3 days and then they planted them in a pot. I used garden soil with little manure and neem leaf powder to grow it. I watered it regularly but it’s leaves appear to be dried. Any help from your side ?
I have 2 baby plants given by my neighbour. One plant leaves all dried or and fallen after few days of planting. The other is still healthy. Can I still revive the plant without leaves but with roots planted on the pot? I planted both baby plants on a same pot. They are small just like the one in your article. May I plant both plants on a same small pot?
