The installation of wiggle wire and greenhouse plastic requires laying the roll-up bar on top of the baseboard to ensure the roll-up side is straight. Sunview Greenhouse Film is a 6 mil greenhouse plastic film that reduces infrared and ultraviolet sunlight. Light deprivation greenhouses require both clear plastic and black and white plastic, with external light dep systems rolling over the clear plastic.
Greenhouse plastics come in various transparency levels, including clear, opaque, and white. Clear plastic allows the most light, making it suitable for most gardeners, while opaque plastic filters light. To install plastic on a greenhouse, follow these steps:
Set the greenhouse plastic roll up on one end of the greenhouse. Fold the ends and tie a firm knot around the nub a few times to ensure proper securement.
Install the greenhouse plastic over the top of any structure using metal poles on each side that fasten to a tractor’s scoop to hold a poly roll. Once hoisted, the poly is unrolled over the top and then sealed together with tape or a heat weld seal.
To make the inflated roll-up sides, overlap the last section of greenhouse film to prevent air from getting in. Place a section of fixed poly on top of the gable while tilting the roll toward the length of the greenhouse.
Snap clamps are pushed over the greenhouse plastic and onto the roll bar. To install roll-up sides, wrap at least 1 inch of greenhouse film rolled and attached around ¾ EMT down the length of the greenhouse.
