This video demonstrates how to install a roll-up side ventilation system on a greenhouse high tunnel. The primary plastic is fastened to a roll bar and hand-craned for easy assembly. Automating roll-up sides can prevent crop damage and protect plants by controlling ventilation precisely. Roll-up sidewalls provide more uniform temperatures and reduce energy costs.
Installing manual roll-up sides to a greenhouse, high tunnel, or hoop house is the perfect way to achieve uniform temperature distribution. All you need is a manual roll bar. Bootstrap Farmer offers a passive sidewall roll-up bundle, complete with winches, spring wire, lock channels, and snap.
Assemble a roll bar made of 1.315″ OD tube and attach a handle or operator on it. The Roll-Up Side Curtain Kit from Bootstrap Farmer allows for natural venting of your greenhouse with ease. The kit includes a roll-up side set up for each side of your hoop house.
In conclusion, roll-up sides are a game changer for greenhouse growers, offering easy and efficient ventilation. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced greenhouse owner, this video provides a comprehensive guide to installing roll-up sides for your greenhouse.

Excellent and timely article, Curtis, as we are building the same these days. What is the best source for website lock and greenhouse poly in BC, to avoid US exchange rate pain? CY Growers? Wondering if other market gardeners out there have experienced the run-around from distributor/wholesalers who prefer to talk to big farms or nurseries who order by the pallet or truck load? Its frustrating for those that have to build up infrastructure incrementally, when cash flow allows. We’ve experienced a reluctance from wholesalers to open accounts for a small market gardener. While I understand that preference/bias from a business perspective, there seems to be a market niche for scale-appropriate gear in western Canada -like what 4 Season Tools is doing in the Midwest US. Any businesses out there?
Curtis, if you cut your wiggle wire in aboat 8″ lengths, go down the sides w the shorter pieces, and hook your top layer w that, you skip every 2′ and add a ” piece of wiggle wire, you can actually have space in between the wiggle wire for air to blow up the lower section, won’t have to use a website that way
Brilliant. I’ve only used the system where there’s a wiggle wire track running along the entire length of the roll up tube. track is about $1 a foot so that’s probably a lot more expensive that your little poly pipe plastic clip trick. Is it still holding up well after 3 years? Do you still like this system for your roll up sides?
