The San Diego Botanic Garden hosts its annual spring orchids showcase, World of Orchids, in the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory, a state-of-the-art facility. The show features vendors selling plants, potting materials, and other merchandise. The Kaplan Orchid Conservatory is a living collection of orchids and other plants of horticultural and ecological significance that serves the ODU and local communities by promoting understanding of diversity, culture, and the importance of orchids.
The 27th annual joint orchid exhibit between the United States Botanic Garden (USBG) and Smithsonian Gardens is “Discover the World of Orchids”, on display from May 4 to 27, 2024. Kew’s iconic Orchid festival returns in 2025, taking over the Princess of Wales Conservatory from February 1 to March 2. Conservation of orchids is one of the cornerstone pillars of the AOS, with the Conservation Committee dedicated to preserving orchids and their habitats.
Orchids occur on every continent except Antarctica and make up 8 to 10 percent of the total diversity of all plants. Despite their global prevalence, all orchids are considered endangered. The exhibition aims to bolster native orchid populations while reducing demand for illegally collected orchids and alleviating pressures on wild populations in Palau and elsewhere.
The Orchid Show: Orchidelirium is the grand opening of this year’s exhibition, which brings visitors through the thrilling history of “orchidelirium”. The conservatory is like walking into a tropical rainforest, featuring waterfalls, exotic birds, African chameleons, and Koi fish.
Fort Worth Botanic Garden invites visitors to “World of Orchids”, an indoor exhibit running from February 24 to April 9.
