  • I used a white row cover over my tomatoes. I live in the shownuff Deep South. Where it is not unheard of to get temps over 100 FH. for a week . Usually in late June the tomatoes would start wilting at noon. With the white row cover. They never wilted all summer. Without shade cloth. Tomatoes would be done by the second week of July. Had tomatoes all the way to Middle of October.

  • I think my shade cloth is a10. It blocks only 10 percent of light. I found it works better. My has lasted a long time. When I am done it put it up. For the home Gardener. I use cattle panels for my green house. I have nine put together. I just hoop them all together. I think it is like 7 to 8 feet in the middle. I put uv plastic on it. Then I put every 3 feet I drive down rebar. Then I buy a 20 foot 3/ quart’s PVC. I stay about a foot away from the panels on each side. I just hoop it. Then I put plastic over that too. So I double it. My lp gas bill dropped more that 3 quart’s. I only now use it to start up veg’s and flowers plants. I put my cover on around January 17th. I start some tomato’s at the end of the month. Then in two weeks I start more tomato’s and veg. Two weeks I start more. Until I got enough. How I mix my potting mix. I buy potting mix and pine bark mulch. Big bag of each add those together. Maybe not the whole bag of pine bark mulch. Just according to what type potting mix you buy usually it’s one bag of that and one bag of the other. Then I add some sand. Play sand when I am potting up. This gives it drainage. You will have to water more but your soil will not compact. I add a small amount of plant food. You don’t want to burn your baby’s. You can always feed your plants later. I have great success planting this. I usually use jobe’s tomato and vegetable food. The granular type. Lowe’s didn’t sell it but I can’t even find it at Lowe’s anymore. I really like this food.
