Herbert Butros Khaury, also known as Tiny Tim, was an American musician and archivist known for his 1968 hit recording of the song “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”. The song, published in 1929, was written by Al Dubin and Joe Burke. After his debut in April 1968, his first album God Bless Tiny Tim sold over 200,000 copies, and the single “Tiptoe Through the Tulips With Me” became his signature song. Tiny Tim sang it in homage to its originator, singer-guitarist Nick Lucas. He invited Lucas to sing at his wedding in 1969.
Khaury was pronounced dead on November 30, 1996, in the room with her husband. His one and only hit was his high-pitched falsetto rendition of the pop standard. The original version was by the crooner Nick Lucas. Today, April 12, 2024, marks what would have been Tiny Tim’s death. The song was made popular by guitarist Nick Lucas and was made a novelty song on February 5, 1968.
Tiny Tim’s high-pitched falsetto rendition of the song is available on Spotify and can be streamed on desktop and mobile. He is also known for his wide-ranging career and his contribution to the music industry.
