For those who think hamy was dead. Many people who have seen this have a misconception. He is totally safe and happy. Most people think that these pitcher plants are dangerous, but they are not. In most cases they can’t harm large animals, like this hamster. And the digestive fluid inside is also not poisonous. In Sri Lanka, people drink these pitcher fluid as a Ayurvedic medicine. What happened? Did I put him in? This greenhouse is a fully covered place, and animals those who can harm the hamster can’t reach in. So while I’m working inside, I release him into the greenhouse and let him roam free. He loves that. I even pour out the fluid in the larger pitchers to make sure he doesn’t get wet. Sometimes hamy goes inside the pitchers and explore everywhere. In this day, I found him like this and it’s not a heart breaking scene for me. Just he can’t reach out. That’s why I’m laughing. I got him out and posted that article too. (Check my other shorts you can find it.) Why am I recording instead of saving him? Because there’s nothing to save in here. He roams inside this area every week. He knows those pitchers well. Even though I wasn’t there, he can come out. So this is not an animal abuse. He is happy and safe. Idk why people are talking about killing the hamster when that’s clearly not the issue…you don’t need to kill smth to mistreat it. Hamster are small rodents prone to stress. Putting your hamster in the fly trap puts it clearly (as visible) into stress. Also I don’t believe in case the hamster should bite of a pace of the plant that it won’t cause health issues with the hamster. So yes even if it did’t or won’t kill the hamster it caused unnecessary stress (that still could be deadly in the worst case)

The hamster looks like it’s struggling to get out. Smells like he put the poor thing in there. A species of shrew will deficate in pitcher plants but; This is a shelf full of the plants, why is the hamster there?Frogs will hang out in them because of the insects and they have sticky fingers, rodents can’t stick like that. YES A PITCHER PLANT CAN DIGEST A RODENT! Same with frogs and lizards. Yes I said digest. The goo on the bottom is digestive fluid not something to “drown in”. Holy shit this makes me mad.
Just like some take mushrooms for medicinal purposes? I just love your cavalier mentallity (high sarcasm tone). Often you may think something isn’t harmful but if you know people use it as something medicinal it should raise a red flag that it might not be good for the hamster poisonous or not. There are lots of things not toxic for humans that are for animals. And just because you’ve always done this don’t make it right. It looks to me he is struggling to get out and can’t and then gives up and hides from you. I wouldn’t wait to help him out and i wouldn’t let him roam free in a room full of things that might not be best for him. Just like i wouldn’t turn a human child free in a candy store and laugh at them pigging out on all the candy in that store.
