What Daisies Gain By Knowing Girl Scout Law?

Girl Scout Daisies, a colorful flower on their blue uniform, earn petals by learning each part of the Girl Scout Law and applying it to their world. Each petal represents a new skill or adventure for girls, and they can earn two leaves each year in categories such as Financial Literacy and Cookie Business. Girls must complete three activities or crafts to earn each leaf.

In kindergarten and first grade, girls earn the Daisy Center and ten petals by doing “petal work”. These activities or crafts build understanding of each one of the Girl Scout Law. As a Daisy, they may gain new friends as part of a troop, earn petals (the special Daisy version of badges earned by older Girl Scouts) as they embrace the Girl Scout Promise and Law, make a difference in their lives, and welcome parents and caregivers.

The purpose of earning the Promise Center is to say the Girl Scout Promise and talk about being considerate and caring. Daisies learn about the parts of the Girl Scout Law by meeting the Flower Friends in the Daisy Journeys and the Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting. When working with Girl Scout Daisies, it is important to keep in mind the differences in their emotional, social, physical, and intellectual characteristics.

Daisies earn up to ten petals as they learn about living the Girl Scout Law. To earn a petal, the Daisy does an activity teaching her about that particular aspect of the law. To earn the petals, the Girl Scout Daisy should be able to show and demonstrate some understanding of each of the Law components.

As a Daisy, they will earn badges (some are called petals and form a flower!) and pins to add to their blue tunic or vest. In this book, there are four exciting activities for girls to earn the Watering Can Award, which represents knowing and living by the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
