Spider Lily Cultivation From Seed?

Spider lily seeds can be a rewarding gardening project for beginners. To grow spider lilies from seeds, follow the steps outlined in this guide: harvest seed pods, place them on a small pot of soil, water the pot, and cover it with a clear plastic baggie to maintain warmth and humidity.

For growing spider lily bulbs, follow these steps: collect the seeds, sow them in a shallow container of growing mix, keep them warm (70 degrees) and slightly moist until seeds sprout, and give seedlings bright light and monthly fertilizer diluted to one-fourth the strength recommended by the manufacturer.

Spider lilies thrive in full sun or partial shade, ideally receiving at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. Sow the seeds in a well-draining seed-starting mix, barely covering them with soil. Maintain a humid environment and dig a hole roughly the size of your spider lily bulb. Plant individual bulbs 20-40cm apart, 10-15cm deep with the tip pointing upwards, to keep the top growing point exposed.

Plant each bulb 10-15cm apart in April to May for autumn flowers. Cover with loose, well-drained soil and plant spider lily bulbs approximately 6 to 12 inches apart, leaving 1/4 inch of each bulb top sticking out above the soil. Select a sunny or partly shaded spot with loose, well-drained soil and plant spider lily bulbs so the top is exposed.

In summary, spider lilies can be a rewarding gardening project for beginners, but proper care and planting are essential for their growth and success.
