How Trump Is Guaranteeing An Increase In Greenhouse Gas Emissions?

The Trump administration is working to increase greenhouse gas emissions by weakening Obama-era regulations designed to reduce pollution. In August, the Trump administration proposed freezing average fuel economy standards after 2021 at about 37 miles per gallon. On Thursday, the Trump administration announced lifting some restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions from coal power plants. Trump has promised to repeal federal regulations designed to cut greenhouse gas pollution that is rapidly heating the planet. Many of his policies could add 4 billion metric tonnes (4.4 billion tons) of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, compared to Biden’s plans to cut emissions by 50-52%.

If Trump is reelected, his administration may not be able to stop the country’s transition away from fossil fuels, but any slowdown could have big impacts on the race to replace sulfur hexafluoride, which can trap heat in the atmosphere for 1,000 hours. One of the most significant impacts of a Trump presidency could be adding 4 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by 2023, compared to Biden’s plans to cut emissions.

Trump plans to end President Joe Biden’s delays of federal drilling permits and leases on federal lands to boost oil and natural gas production. He has repeatedly denied the scientific reality of climate change and taken steps that will increase carbon emissions. The president and his administration exercise substantial influence on the environment through regulation and executive authority.

  • This story, as it began to appear on the Washington Times, was greeted by waves of cheers. Perhaps I was one of the first dissenting voices. Maybe I was a little emotional demanding that those who voiced their support: work in the mines, live in coal towns, convert their transportation, home and office energy to coal fired ones, stuff their furniture, mattresses, pillows, and cover their lawns and watersheds and aquifers cover with coal ash. I’d offer that folks read the “discourse”. What I discovered was that most folks who thought the order was a good idea, had zero interest in what it contained, knew nothing about what was in the order, new nothing about how dangerous the coal energy life cycle is, do not understand Earth’s Systems cycles, and absolutely don’t care to learn and create an informed opinion, let alone take a stand about it. Some people focused on Government intrusion and spending their tax money. Some accused me of mistaking CO2 as a pollutant. Some called me a libtard (I am a progressive). I also had more personalized conversations with people, primarily to get them off the notion, or accusation that I was some kind of freak, a foreigner, a birther baby? and extraterrestrial. Many brought up the “growing Ice Caps – I showed them the most recent Government an independent research that proves otherwise. Many said coal is not dirty – I asked them to provide proof. What I learned from the many dialogues – I tried to stay with each person, but have a job – was most folks are completely uninformed, have take a side, consider it an us-versus-them thing, and don’t want to be proven wrong.

  • You betcha- Quote by Club of Rome: “In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill….All these dangers are caused by human intervention….and thus the “real enemy, then, is humanity itself….believe humanity requires a common motivation, namely a common adversary in order to realize world government. It does not matter if this common enemy is “a real one or….one invented for the purpose.”
