Coco coir is a growing medium that provides nutrient solutions for cannabis plants. It acts as a moisture sponge, holding an incredible amount of water and nutrients while providing more airflow to the roots than any other growing medium. To ensure optimal pH values, it is essential to provide enough nutrient solution to each plant to produce 10-20 run-off. If one quart of water is added, 10-20 of that quart should end up as run-off.
To water coco, shake the bottle well before use, fill the nutrient reservoir with water, and add Coco to the reservoir with a dilution ratio of 1:250 (400 ml A and 400). Fertigation is the addition of fertilizers to the irrigation water, and it is crucial to maintain optimal pH values. Coco does not contain any nutrients on its own, so it must be added to the water for healthy growth. Rehydrating the coco can be done using tap or bottled/filtered water, and after rehydrating, mix with perlite and verify EC.
To water fully-grown plants, start by watering once per day and observe the moisture of the coco in the pots for a few days. Watering fully-grown plants should be 4 to 6 liters per m2 a day. Corrective flushing is achieved by pouring large volumes of water or watered-down nutrients through the pot until more acceptable EC/pH readings are obtained. Mixing around 8-9 gallons at a time for a reservoir is recommended, but it should be stirred up daily and stored away from light.
For feeding with nutrients, take samples from the drain of the pots to control the EC and pH level after watering and readjust the solution if needed. Air pots can also be used, and water with nutrients every day, checking pH B4 and after.
