Washing your face is a crucial part of skincare and makeup routines. It’s essential to wash your face twice a day with lukewarm water and a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser. Rinse your skin and pat it dry with a towel. Choose products that are gentle and effective, avoid common mistakes like scrubbing, hot water, and over-washing, and follow these steps.
Use a fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water to clean your face gently and effectively. Avoid using hot water, as it strips healthy natural oils from your skin. Use a face cleanser, warm water, and face soap to scrub in gentle water. Run your hands under warm water and pat your face before applying the cleanser and sudsing up. Rinse your face again with lukewarm water.
Wash your face with water only in the morning, carrying out a good double cleanse the night before. Water alone is not sufficient to remove dirt, makeup, and other impurities. Warm water helps plump pores, while cold water reduces puffiness. Properly remove all makeup first, don’t use harsh bar soap, use lukewarm water, try micellar water, and skip soap.
A growing number of clinicians recommend trying a “water only wash” to avoid dry skin. Choose a gentle cleanser for your skin type and rub it between your hands for at least 20 seconds until it’s completely absorbed. This will help prevent dry skin and promote a healthier complexion.

Can I just cleanse my face with water?
Washing your face with only water may seem simple but it doesn’t provide the necessary oil-balancing, cleaning, or hydrating properties for oily skin. It may save time, be safer, and help combat fine lines and surface irritation. However, it doesn’t remove the build-up of dead skin cells, oil, makeup, or bacteria, which can lead to dehydration, greasy, or blocked pores.
For oily skin, cleansing is crucial as it helps remove excess sebum, dead skin cells, and dirt that can block pores and cause breakouts. To maintain good skin, use a cleanser that focuses on cleaning and rehydrating, rather than one that strips the skin of its natural oils. While it may seem counterintuitive to retain oil when your skin is already oily, it’s essential for maintaining the right balance.

Micellar Water, originating from the harsh waters of France, has gained popularity worldwide as a makeup remover due to its soap-free and no-rinse formula. Its natural ingredients work together to attract impurities in the skin, leaving it feeling clean and refreshed. It can replace the laborious routine of removing makeup as a facial cleanser, exfoliator, and toner. It’s also a good makeup remover for travelers, as it saves space in toiletries.
Using Micellar Water with a Reusable Pad is a fuss-free experience, as it does not smear makeup but sweeps it away with only a few wipes. To use it correctly, apply to a Reusable Pad, hold on your eyes for a few seconds, and gently wipe your lashes from the bottom up. For the rest of your face, start with your cheeks, move to your forehead, and finish with your neck.

Hi my face is combination. No facewash works for me . They make my face black and dry and red. Also I was using soap as well as facewash followed by powder and whitening cream. But now I can no longer do that as it’s giving me allergic reaction. I don’t know what to use anymore. My face used to be the best and used to get many compliments. By the way I used to use medimix soap followed by Garnier neem facewash followed by powder and ponds white beauty cream. I need advise as I can’t afford dermatologists as I’m just a student
I am curious, I don’t go often outside in the sun or there is not much sunshine in my house. Should i wear sunscreen in my house? And if yes, can you only take it off with water or do you need a cleanser like for example cetaphil milky cleanser? Also do you need to moisturise after? And for daily use without sunscreen, can you use only water and no moisturiser? I’m not sure about my skin type anymore, don’t know how to figure that out… I thought I had combination skin but after washing 2x a day with cetaphil mikly cleanser on dry skin (without water and removing witb tissue) my skin didnt feel so oily or dry anymore? Now I am trying with only water, i try to make it as simple as possible because otherwise i will not do it… and then i got oily and dry skin again (that is combination skin right?) so i dont want that anymore Sorry for my bad english, I am dutch and my brain doesnt work well with me today 😅 If my sentences are too complicated, please tell me and I will try a translate app 😊
I’m going to try this as a guy my face feels so irritated when washing my Face within 24hr after shaving it feels really sore when washing and I’m sure it breaks me out around the lip and chin area I also use gentle cleaners in my bathroom I have la roch posay normal to dry skin cleanser, cerave and cetaphil and aveeno oat nourishing and it all still irritates if I have shaven within 24hr. For example if I shave in the morning then use a cleanser at night it really really hurts my face and leavs my chin and mouth area with red blemishes and often breakouts I’m 90% sure it’s the cause. I have also tried shaving at night but its stil the same in the morning and the following night. I’m struggling:( My current routine is La roch posay normal to dry skin cleanser Klairs unscented toner Aveeno triple oat serum Elf hydrating happy cream or sukin sensitive moisturizer I’m 25yr old male
Another question, do you know if a washandje is enough instead of a microfiber towel: i only know the dutch word sadly, washandje but its like a towel but smaller and most of the times softer and there are baby washandjes too and those are even more soft and gentle (from the hema the baby ones). Are those okay instead of the microfiber towel? I try not to purchase too much and use what i already have so that is why i am aksing this. Hope my english is a bit readable, if not please tell me and i woll try a translator app. I am dutch 🙂
