This is a great tutorial! Couple things that might help…. If your cricut mat has lost its tack, you can wash them with Dawn dish soap, and a sponge. You can also use a repositionable glue to retack after washing if desired, or if you want it stickier. As for not cutting all the way through, DO NOT UNLOAD after the cut! Instead, immediately press the go button again and it will cut the same pattern in the same place, and voila! You can do this multiple times if you need to!
Here’s an option that works: peel back and adhere about a 1/4″ of the clear sticker along the whole 8.5″ edge of the color printout. Now, peel off the rest of the backing away, holding it apart from the color sheet. Feed that small adhered edge into the cold laminator, holding the sticker and printout apart, and let it naturally feed together into the laminator. What comes out is a perfectly applied clear sticker, with no air bubbles. This saves applying/rubbing by hand and rolling by hand, and the end result looks better. This is our method at my print shop.

Some humble advice; you can set your cricut machine to the “cardstock+” button and it should cut straight through the entire sticker! I’ve used that method for cutting through stickers that I self laminate with clear gloss paper.

Will they work same for laminate? And If I stick self adhesive laminating sheet on sticker sheet then Do I have to put it on laminating machine? I love this method and bought everything to make my stickers like this however, I encountered a problem 😭 how do you align your sticker page on the mat? I notice you have a border with blue tape to get it aligned the same every time. I put my sticker page to the top left of the mat and everything just cut completely off I would greatly appreciate your help!
Do you have any tips on properly placing your sheet of paper on the mat? I’ve done the painter’s tape trick but for some reason I can’t get consistent cuts on my sheets of paper. I’ve had like one or two batches that have comes out good, but never consistent enough to start printing on sticker paper (thus far I’ve been testing on regular paper). Lovely article btw!
I love this article! I have a question: you don’t use the “print then cut” with the Cricut? because I didn’t see any guides on the printed page, if so please share how you do it. I read the text and I saw you use the squares on PS, is that how you do it?, will it work if I do it on Illustrator? . I hope you still read! I have used Avery label paper, Cricut sticker paper, and online labels paper all with Avery self laminate and my stickers still bleed! I don’t know what to do, I use photo paper setting on my inkjet, is that too much ink? I hear a lot of people use glossy setting but would that be more ink? I need help haha so frustrating!
Curious. A adhesive laminate usually has two sides, like a pouch. It looks like your laminate is one sided. Is it okay to put thru the laminater just as a one side type thing ? does it seal it in better? its very tedious to try to get all of the tiny little bits of air residue out. Hi this is the 1st article am perusal..am new. But wanted to know why did you peel the protective backing in minute 2.58 just before placing on mat? So did you put the backing back on once you lifted from cricut mat ? That was confusing…would they remain sticky without that backing you remove? Help . Am confuse Thanks

I have done exactly what you’ve done creating a mask on a mat doing registration marks so you can get a full sheet however when I try to do multiple pages it does not work consistently. The cuts are off I have to take it out measure it and keep putting it in have you run into that same problem? And if so how did you correct it I am not new to cricket but I’ve seen this hack other places on YouTube and I have not been able to get it to work when you have to do several pages. I made sure my cricket was an alignment cut and registration marks for the cricket we’re all correct.

loved this tutorial thank you so much I used something can’t even remember what but after just running water over it to wash it it got sticky but had a baby shower for my daughter and made stickers for the plastic cups for ladies to use and take home it was a drive through shower so I had lids and straws so cute and used the vinyl sticker paper and i still use from time to time the extras and they are really holding up as well. I have done the sticker paper with clear vinyl (from the dollar store) over, and they held up to daily use for awhile, but I never submerged them. I have read that some inkjet ink is not waterproof (especially black), so that even with the printable vinyl, results might vary. I also read to let let cure 72 hours, so it’s nice to see that a few hours worked. So much comes down to what you’re going to use the sticker for and your own printer ink. I hope I get your results with the vinyl, once mine comes in a few days.

One question I have is when you switch over to using the vinyl sticker paper, I don’t think you mentioned what settings you used on the Cricut for a kiss cut? Great tutorial Thank you! ♥ You didn’t use it but would any of the Mod Podge work? For instance, I’m guessing the dishwasher version might work … maybe Outdoor version but not sure about the other ones (paper, matte, gloss, sparkle & original versions)! Oh and would those clear/holo adhesive sheets you can lay over your stickers work too? (at least for the surface not sure about the back) For the overlay if you run it through a die cutting machine just to flatten together – do you think that might seal it better?

I love this so much! I’m brand new to all of this, and this article was so helpful. I only have one question… What base image setting would I use if I DO want to cut all the way through the backing? I’d still like the “kiss cut”, where it cuts around the border of the image and not just a simple square. But to where I could, say, give them away or sell them individually.
I need to learn how to make stickers. I loved your article and I’ll definitely use the vinyl wet proof method when I figure out how to just make stickers. I have sticker paper and sticker vinyl. I’m not sure about how the stickers get cut out. Does the Cricut machine cut out each sticker individually and if so is it just a circle or square, or do you cut the stickers out by hand?
I am wondering about the clear vinyl you used as I believe there are two types (according to my google search history!) If you used a transparent vinyl with a water based adhesive, it makes sense you got the results you did. If the adhesive on the transparent vinyl was solvent based, the results might be different. I am not criticising by any means, nor am I questioning your knowledge, nor am I sure both types are readily available to the common crafter. If you used a vinyl with a solvent based adhesive and you got those results, c’est la vie. If not, I would love to see another article with a showdown between the two types of vinyl. A little tip, especially if printing through wifi. Make sure you have your printer’s drivers installed. I was getting what I thought was my printer’s dialogue box, but it was just a generic Windows dialogue. There was no option to change the quality of printing, and I got lines. Installing my printers drivers made a huge difference!
Hi, Very good article. I notice that you are using Matte Vinyl Sticker Paper. Would this make a difference to be using gloss sticker paper?. I ask because I’ve had a lot of trouble with the gloss rejecting everything in the way of waterproofing. I’m trying to make stickers for my motorcycle and waterproofing is essential. Hi Jennifer, Interesting tests. However, the real test is to waterproof inkjet printed vinyl labels with water proof edges which do not allow the ink to run from the edges after being totally submerged in water for 24 hours. Water will enter around the edges as there is often a tiny gap between the vinly and the lamination fil. Thus far I have not seen this done and hence why makers leave a white border around the labels. Can you do your magic and find a solution? Please?
Hi Jennifer, I noticed you said you used your HP printer in the article, but when you did the Print then cut, you had an Epson printer chosen. I’m trying to find a good printer that will reliably print these stickers with good color. I’ve been doing research for a while but can’t seem to decide. Any recommendations? It seems like a rear feed printer would better than a front loading printer.
Jennifer, I have been trying to make waterproof stickers for a while now and have tried many different products including the Joyeza paper that you show in the article above. The article you posted was great, but I am still not having any luck. I designed, printed, and cut my stickers and then ran them under water. For some reason, they continue to smear and I am not sure what to do. Do you have any idea why this could be happening? I am currently using a HP Deskjet 3755 printer. Thanks!!
Could you use the Cricut Clear Vinyl to print then cut the stickers? I’m looking to make stickers on a clear material. I see that Cricut also has clear printable sticker paper but based on your experiment, maybe the Cricut clear vinyl may be the best option but I’m not sure if it can be used for print then cut.
I loved your tutorial but I bought an Eco Tank ET 2800 and somehow when I’m making stickers, the print dialog doesn’t show. I’ve tried moving my screen like you mentioned in another article, and it is not there. I tried it with another printer, to hopefully see if the printer is the problem and it doesn’t show on there either. I’ve calibrated the cricut too. Any ither places I can find it?

Hi from South Africa. I’ve tried printing with an HP inkjet printer, and Cricut printable vinyl, however mine ran like it was running a marathon. What am I doing wrong?! I’ve been told here that the only way to get this right, would be to use eco-solvent ink….but machines of that magnitude are way to expensive to invest in. Is there a particular product / gloss vs Matt that is preferred?
I used the Joyeza matte finish printable vinyl sticker paper. I printed them approximately 36 hours ago. 24 hours ago I applied them to a water bottle. Today, I filled it with water and a little dripped onto the stickers. Some of the black ink is bleeding! Am I supposed to let them fry longer? Or what did I do wrong?
Hi Jennifer, how to I seal vinyl on mason jar glass? I put our restaurant logo on glass mason jars but they come off after couple weeks due to washing too many times in a day. I tried to seal them with dishwasher safe mod podge (cured them for 30 days), but the surface got cloudy because of the moisture from the ice water. I about to try resin coating but not sure if it is working. Do you have any other method to seal it? Thanks
