How To Maintain A Floral Pouch?

Calceolarias, Pouch Flowers, and Pocketbook Plants are a unique and interesting plant that can be grown at home. These one-inch flowers have lower lips that resemble pocketbooks and come in colors like yellow, red, or orange. To grow these flowers, water them regularly and thoroughly, but avoid wetting the crown to prevent crown and root rot. Apply an all-purpose, slow release type fertilizer at planting time and provide protection from strong winds.

Planting a flower pouch can help use underused vertical space, but it can be a tricky task. The key to successful pouch maintenance is slow, thorough watering: fill the top of the pouch with water, wait a few seconds until the water sits in the top, and repeat until the pouch is sufficiently watered according to the guidelines.

To maintain the pouch, mix slow-release fertiliser pellets into a general purpose compost and fill the pouch, ensuring the compost gets right into the corners and firm it down. Fertilize weakly weekly using a liquid or soluble fertilizer at ¼ of the recommended dose. At the end of the season, toss the pouch with the recommended amount of water.

For best results, water the flower pouch through the designated pipe, checking for sunny and cloudy days. If the plants take 7-10 days to root, tie the handle as instructed on the pouch and hang them to enjoy. Depending on the weather, you may need to water daily. Fill the Hanging Flower Bags with potting compost up to the first layer of slits, pressing into the corners.
