Watering dead looking plants is crucial for unlocking the secret ending in Basil’s gardens. To do this, use watering cans and press Z on them. Only water dead looking plants until they have no effect. It is recommended to water them whenever possible to avoid getting the secret ending.
To water Basil’s plants, go back to MARI at the end of the UNDERWATER HIGHWAY and go north towards DEEPER WELL. There are six plants patches made by BASIL himself that allow players to water their plants every time they return to HEADSPACE. Watering these plants grants a boost in HP for any party member.
Remember that Basil prefers consistently moist soil, so water deeply whenever the top inch of soil feels dry. The secret ending is achieved by watering Basil’s plants in headspace. However, some flowers are dead, and no amount of water will bring them back or prevent their death.
Lastly, the flowers will only decay when the party arrives on this map. Watering the decayed flowers will refresh them and unlock the secret ending. To achieve this, interact with the watering can and water the plants as needed.

How to keep basil alive?
Basil, a popular kitchen herb, can be easily damaged by cold showers. To keep it alive, place a bowl of water under it and water the pot twice a week. This will prevent the soil from getting wet but not the stems, which can cause the basil to rot quickly. Exposure to water and sunlight can also cause the leaves to turn brown or black. To keep basil alive, follow these six steps:
- Buy your basil plant from a specialized garden center, as supermarket plants are stuffed together in one pot and grown under artificial light. These plants smother each other and live no longer than a week. Supermarket basil pots are cultivated for quick consumption, making them ideal for those in need of basil for a dish.
Can I save dead basil?
The plants, which appear to require composting, in fact necessitate only water and sunlight. The plants have been resuscitated on at least ten occasions over the past three months, thereby demonstrating their capacity to flourish in the absence of the requisite conditions.
How do you keep basil alive?
Basil plants require water, similar to instant cake mix. To maintain their health, keep the soil slightly moist and water them every 1-2 days, depending on the amount of sun they receive. Ensure good drainage in the pot to prevent rotting roots. As an expert basil grower, you’ll have a variety of basil to work with. Learn about the 5 Best Basil Facts and Recipes and how to store herbs correctly.
How to water basil plants?
Basil requires approximately 1 inch of water per week to maintain its moisture and roots. It grows best in containers, which need more frequent watering to prevent soil drying out. Watering should be done early in the morning. Basil is a vigorous grower that requires little to no fertilization, and too much can harm its flavor. If you choose to add fertilizer, it should be light twice a season. For pot plants, a weak liquid solution every 3 to 4 weeks is needed to compensate for nutrients washed away by frequent watering. Pinching back leaves from the tips of the basil plant when it has two sets of true leaves encourages full and bushy growth.
How do I water my plants?
To ensure optimal plant health, use watering wands, drip irrigation, or soaker hoses to direct water to the root zone. Watering early or late in the day minimizes moisture loss from soil surface evaporation. Shield plants from wind to reduce moisture loss. Plants require oxygen as much as water, so it’s best to let the soil surface dry between waterings, especially with container plants. Water deeply and less frequently. Allowing soil to get too dry can damage fine root hairs, reducing energy for flower and fruit production.
Can you water the plants in Omori?
BASIL has created six plants patches with a mechanic that allows players to water them when returning to HEADSPACE, granting a boost in HP for party members. However, these plants will decay over time due to BASIL’s absence. Watering them every time the player returns to HEADSPACE is recommended for STAT boosts. The flowers are associated with all main characters, with sunflowers representing BASIL, lily of the valley for MARI, gladiolus for AUBREY, roses for HERO, cactus for KEL, and tulip for SUNNY. Watering decayed plants grants more HP for party members, but OMORI can only gain hearts from the tulip, sunflower, and lily of the valley.
When to water the plants?
Watering plants in the morning or evening is the best time to do so as it prepares the plant for the day ahead and helps retain water. Watering in the afternoon, especially during summer, evaporates water instead of absorbing it into the soil and roots. Morning watering is preferable as it allows the plant to dry before the sun goes down, while evening watering encourages rot, fungal growth, and insects.
Heat and dry soil indicate that a plant needs more water, while dry soil indicates dehydration and requires more frequent watering for healthy growth. Ideally, the soil should be moist and well-drained.
A plant’s age also helps determine when to water. Young and newly planted plants need more water to establish a healthy root system, while shallow and fragile roots require additional water for root strength and expansion. Mature plants don’t need as much water as younger plants, but need a larger amount at one time to ensure their roots thrive deep in the ground.
Is BASIL straight OMORI?
The character of Basil in Omori is frequently depicted as homosexual, a portrayal that is based on his actions and dialogue. However, there is no conclusive evidence to support this assumption.
How often do you have to water basil’s flowers?
Basil, a Mediterranean herb, requires a significant amount of water for proper growth. It thrives in moist soil with good drainage and should not be allowed to dry out completely. Regular watering prevents dry leaves and slows bolting, encouraging vigorous growth. However, excessive watering can lead to root rot.
When growing basil in pots, the plants need more water than those in garden beds. The exposed roots allow moisture to evaporate faster, increasing the water needed. Terracotta pots or grow bags dry out faster than plastic containers, so outdoor potted basil needs more frequent watering. Outdoor basil in containers should be watered once every 1 to 3 days during summer and less in cool weather, while indoor potted basil should be watered once a week.
In conclusion, basil plants require a significant amount of water to thrive, especially in pots. Choosing the right watering schedule depends on the plant’s specific needs and conditions.
Is OMORI BASIL A Boy or Girl?
In Headspace, BASIL is a medium-height boy with pale skin, teal eyes, mint green hair, and a purple, blue, and pink flower crown. He wears knee-length denim overalls with a large pocket on the chest and a yellow button-up shirt under. In the real world, he has blond hair and a single pink flower tucked behind his left ear. BASIL is depicted as a relatively shy boy, well-known after being introduced to the friend group. He is insecure and fearful of being perceived as a burden.
BASIL enjoys taking pictures, taking care of flowers, art, and reading. He seems to develop strong emotional attachments to many of his possessions, never throwing away anything, no matter how worthless it is.
How do you keep basil from dying Omori?
The game OMORI aims to achieve the SECRET ENDING by consistently watering BASIL’s flowers in HEADSPACE. However, the check for each day’s ending is missing, causing the required watering for PROLOGUE and THREE DAYS LEFT to be done on TWO DAYS LEFT. The game has two full routes with five known endings, with slight variations depending on the route. The plot branches into two “routes” once Sunny wakes up on THREE DAYS LEFT after finishing the PROLOGUE.
KEL knocks on Sunny’s door, asking to hang out with him. The main route is the SUNNY ROUTE, which involves answering both knocks and participating in FARAWAY TOWN segments. This route provides a proper resolution to the story and allows players to explore FARAWAY TOWN, with slight variations depending on minor choices.
📹 OMORI – how the fandom treats basil
I PROMISE THIS IS THE LAST SHITPOST- IM SORRY i literally started this an hour ago,, i heard the audio and immediately had to …
I can’t believe I have to even say this but can all the homophobes just go away? This article is supposed to be poking harmless fun at the shipping. It’s light hearted humor, stop pouring your heart out in my comments telling me how you “hate the gays”. Seriously fuck off. Some of you think that my intentions were to express how much I hate gay ships so you think this is a safe space to be harmful but that couldn’t be further from the truth! Seriously, grow up. (Sorry I swore, it’s frustrating to have to moderate these comments. I’ll try to block certain words.)
I actually interpreted Sunny and Basil’s relationship more in the same way I felt about my best friend at the time of the traumatic period in my life. At the time, I felt like I loved her, but when I really look back, I just loved the fact they knew what I was going through. It wasn’t real love, it was just my desperation and craving for comfort.
I really like Sunflower as a ship but people who only ship it because they view Basil and Sunny as “uwu soft angels who can do no wrong” really annoy me ngl, it’s like they really didnt play the game aha. It feels weird but I’m confident in saying a lot of people only think Basil is gay because of his softer looks and reserved personality
I would like to say that not liking a gay ship, or liking straight ships, doesn’t mean you hate gay people. Also, liking a gay ship and/or hating straight ships does NOT make you an advocate for gay rights. There are so many people on both ends of the shipping spectrum who need to tone down their enthusiasm for gay/straight ships. I mean, if you want to have gay/straight ships, you are welcome to them. I just have a problem with the people who lambast others for not liking their ships. We don’t need to make every platform like Twitter, now do we? By the way, this is a nice article. Keep up the good work.
I like the sunflower ship, honestly. The fan art is just adorable, it’s truely a ship only absolutely insane/horrible people can think of in an nsfw way. But for me I find them more as a ship because of their history together, they were always quite dependent on each other or just very close. Im saying that I’m the sense of after the good ending + secret ending, the relationship would be more positive. Personally I think theyd be the type to be affectionate but not everyone knows they’re in a relationship.
I don’t hate Basil. At the end of the day, he was a young kid who was faced with an absolutely horrific situation and dealt with it badly. That being said, I will never stop making fun of him because the mental image of him running into an already fucked situation with a jump rope, yelling “I CAN FIX THIS”, and proceeding to make everything so much worse than it already was, is just too fucking funny.
What are Marip and Luigi’s views on Basil being headcanoned as gay? Mario says: “as an ally to the LGBT community, I think it is harmful to portray anyone who disagrees with societal gender norms as necessarily queer, as it perpetuates harmful stereotypes about those people.” Luigi says: “as a gay guy Basil gives me massive gay vibes”
Lmao. I hate how people try to simplify Basil and get him wrong. Basil is a strongwilled, good friend who was willing to endure literal hell just to keep his best friend safe because he felt the need to protect him. In his eyes Sunny is “the baby of the group”. It’s possible that Basil saw Sunny as the slightly younger brother he wish he had. In the 4 years Sunny spent as nothing, Basil had to; grieve Mari’s death, grieve the fact that he witnessed it, lament the fact that he covered it up the way he did and lament the loss of his best friends and even endure the hate from Aubrey, who is his oldest friend from the group. He’s not just some small, depressed boy. In the context of show don’t tell, he is one of the most complex characters in that game right next to Sunny.
Basil: A boy who uses photography and flowers as the only normal thing left in his life, as his parents are NEVER home, his grandmother is dying, and the incessant bullying from the Hooligans meanwhile the only other person who he can relate to is going to end up leaving soon leaving him in a state of intense distress The fandom: Hm…Smells like a whole lot of GAY in here.
This. While yes, I do think Sunflower is cute, It’s really mean for everyone to call him gay, and many even mislead people into thinking he’s canonically gay. Just let the poor boy exist, please don’t force your own beliefs onto him as if fact. He has far too much trauma already and he really doesn’t need any more. He just wants to have fun with his friends, let him do his own thing for Christ’s sake! Leave the damn baby alone…
Im not a big fun of the sunflower ship, it kinda ruins the narrative about how loyal of a friend basil is, like basil did the things he did just because he had a crush on sunny… It took me like 10 minutes to realize that it feels off because i already ship sunburn. and i dont get people that have more than one ship about the same person
Crazy take here, but… gatekeeping aspects of a fake person’s identity is bad and not healthy. Very “chronically online” thing to do. That’s directed at literally anyone who tries to enforce a sexuality on any character whose attractions are never explained. This article is a good checkpoint and reminder that we don’t know enough about Basil to just give him a sexuality based on his appearance and mannerisms alone. Is he queer coded? Most definitely. Is he confirmed gay? Nope. And honestly, that’s fine, because we need more feminine male representation in general, and Basil is a shining example of how to represent a feminine male character in a non-pandering, organic, and constructive way. It’s part of the process of normalizing characters like him, and, gay or not, his inclusion and the decisions behind his personality are so important, and are delightfully plot-relevant as well. His “feminine” love of flowers defines an entire section of symbolism in the game, for God’s sake! That being said… I absolutely love Sunflower! …when it’s well understood as a relationship that requires a LOT of growth, consideration, and boundary-setting to be healthy. I always like to think it comes after the teen and college years, maybe when Sunny and Basil are in their mid-twenties and their trauma is much closer to being resolved. Their messy relationship has a chance to blossom into a beautiful sunflower, but only if carefully nurtured, and only if the soil is allowed to become nutrient-rich when it was once barren.
ok………….i havnt not finished the game- im only like 2 hours into it actually. and from the moment i saw basil my little gay heart said. “i love you and you are my new favorite!” i hope nothing happens to him cuz i havnt seen any spoilers yet so- update: i finished the game a whil ago and recently found my comment again, holy crap. i feel so bad for basil lmao
It’s weird how not a single character can look meek or timid while being a guy that everyone instantly thinks they are gay. Like, i get it but still you can’t just guess anyone’s gay from them acring a lil different. It’s not really an issue since if they are or aren’t isn’t the point, just find it weird how it’s where people automatically go to 😛
This is true Like most of the time it’s Sunny x Basil but like man just cause they accidentally murdered someone together doesn’t mean that they are in love like what and whenever someone doesn’t like it they go all protective of their “precious ship” and start saying that ur homophobic if you don’t like it. some people man.. Im not saying all gay ships are bad, btw.
My boy is traumatized, he can barely even love himself let alone a whole other person. He needs to heal a bit before he even thinks of defining his love life. Same for most of the other characters too 💜 (sunny x basil is cute tho, I like to imagine it would begin quite a bit after sunny moves to another town)
Basil needs a hug, and a TON OF THERAPY. Give him a break. He just likes gardening, maybe it’s a coping mechanism for him after the trauma that ensued him. However there is one example that could make the sunflower ship canon is that in the game the payer can sleep in basil’s bed since it is comfortable.
Me finally going through Omori and seeing this: Wait… people are shipping? Not to be that person but it’s not really big on ships and stuff at least not to me It’s a game about recovery and learning to face your fears The love department isn’t really a core piece of it but it can still be appreciated Basil gives me the vibes of someone that has been hurt multiple times and found a support group that ultimately shattered because of tragedy Watering them down to uwu tumblr vibes feels a bit sad But like yeah Basil is gender and I want to be that bitch
am i the only one who doesn’t really care about ships? like as in, i respect the stuff but i don’t really care that much about them??? or something like, i kind of ignore it. does anyone else feel this way? i used to ship but then i just kinda felt neutral and just think of the characters as friends or enemies, kinda. i tried to explain as much as i could of my thoughts.. asloso bagel bagsil veryy yummy with cremn cheerse
But when I tell you I have the basil and omori polaroid from the switch release and my dad thought Basil was a girl 💀. Sorry, but when a grown man thinks your a girl, sorry, but your gay. (My dad also thought that Mitsuba from TBHK and Venti from genshin were girls so~) NAH NVM MY BIG SISTER THOUGHT KYOKO SAKURA FROM MADOKA MAGICA WAS A GUY (But kyoko is 100% gay for Sayaka )
Honestly literally the only feminine trait with him is liking flowers, thats literally it, theres no other evidence to call him a femboy, and flowers arent even exclusively feminine ffs its just a stupid stereotype that has somehow remained despite all the killing blows i wish it was put on And hes not horribly in your face and uncomfortably attempting-at-seduction and acting all cutesy and girly for the fans like ralsei is Basil’s personality is quite generic for nervous male characters, but i guess people are just really desperate to place the femboy tag on every guy who has even 0.1% of likes towards something not masculine I mean, look at hero Just because he cooks, and may i remind you yes guys COOK TOO, hes now “malewife” “baby girl” etc etc And dont get me STARTED on the day omocat posted that doodle of female kel In my opinion, there shouldnt be such a label as a femboy for the guys who like “feminine” things, nor should “tomboy” exist either If the lgbt is so desperate to remove these stereotypes and make everyone free to express themselves, why have they instead made it horrendously worse than before and permanently attached these traits to a gender, making it so if the opposite were to ever have any of them, they would be given a name akin to the gender it “belonged” to A guy who likes pink and flowers is still a guy if they wish to be Same for girls who like masculine things, although admittedly its a lot more common and bigger with males to be immediately called female than the other way around
I hate the fandom seriously. (Not the part who is doing amazing stories, articles and arts of course ! But the toxic ones who are full of fujoshis who fetichize gay people everytime and everywhere and people who romantize bad behaviours and mental illiness. Also it makes me a angry that everytime.. When someone saw a man who is feminine they automatically categorize them as gay… It’s so homophobic !! Like I get it it’s a joke etc but as a lgbtq+ person I am tired of this !!)
there’s def a difference between headcanoning him as something (not Something^tm but y’all get it) and like fighting ppl and insisting he is one thing when it’s not in the text at all … 😭 like you can interpret things certain ways but it’s also canon sunny has some sort of romantic feelings towards aubrey and basil acknowledges that so what then?? 😅 like y’all need to stop arguing w people on things that are purely speculation and interpretation. ppl will have diff views than you 😭
Sunny: The one that threw his sister down the stairs Fandom: best boi Basil: Literally just walked in on it and came up with the idea to frame it to try and protect Sunny Fandom: FUCKING ASSHOLE. HE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST. I HATE HIM SO MUCH ABFEWBJ AAAA I also love Sunflower (Sunny x Basil) the ship but I don’t like the people who say hes gay because of his looks/personality
