How To Hydrate Avocado Seeds?

Avocados can be grown from seeds using four methods: the Toothpick Method, Baggie Method, Soaking Method, and Soil Method. To grow an avocado tree from seed, gently remove the pits, place the seeds in a clear vase or container, fill it with water, and set it in a sunny spot. Rinse the seeds and put them in fresh water every few days. Watch closely for growth. Once the seeds have sprouted, remove them from the water and plant them in soil.

There are four ways to grow an avocado tree from seed: the Toothpick Method, the Baggie Method, the Soaking Method, and the Soil Method. To plant avocado seeds in water, insert three toothpicks into the side of the seed around the pit’s equator (or middle), equidistant apart and about ½-inch deep. The pointed end of the pit should be about an inch above the soil surface.

To plant the seed in soil, stick three toothpicks into the sides of the pit, broad end facing down, so that it balances on top of a small glass or Mason jar filled with water. Plant the seed so that the pointed end is about an inch above the soil surface. Keep the soil moist at all times until the avocado plant is established. Water the plant often enough to keep the soil moist but not wet, as a wet soil will result in curled leaves and soft stems.

To grow an avocado seed in soil, set half of the avocado under water and fill it up with the “bottom” being the fat end. Make sure the bottom of the seed is always kept submerged in water and change the water once a week. Wash and dry the pit, fill a mason jar with water, press three toothpicks around the pit, and place the jar in a warm, sunny spot.

After soaking the seed for 24 hours in tepid water, gently wash the seed under warm running water, removing any avocado flesh, and take a before photo to ensure proper growth.
