Air plants, also known as Tillandsia, are low-maintenance houseplants that do not grow in soil and require little light to thrive. They can be watered using various methods, including soaking, misting, and soaking. Rainwater, filtered water, or distilled water is recommended for air plants. To rinse the plants, remove them from their display area and submerge them in a bowl or sink full of water. After 10 minutes, remove the plants from the water and spread them on a towel to dry.
There are two main methods for watering air plants: misting and soaking. Misting involves misting the plant, while soaking involves letting the plant soak in a container of water for at least 15-20 minutes. The best way to water air plants depends on the environment and the specific plant. Misting can be done under running water or in a bath of water for 20-30 minutes. Soak the air plants in a bowl, sink, or tub of water for 20 to 30 minutes once a week, depending on the size of your collection. A thorough 20 to 60-minute soak in room-temperature water every week to ten days is the best way for the plants to fully hydrate.
In humid environments, soaking less often and placing a fan on low beside the plants to dry is recommended. Most air plants are successfully watered using a soaking method, where the plant is left to soak in a bowl of distilled water for 20 to 40 minutes. Understanding the unique needs of air plants is crucial for their survival and growth.

You shouldn’t use distilled water, use rain or well water. Air plants get their nutrients from the leaves, the roots are only to hold the plant to the trees. You can water once a week, but if they get too dry then twice a week. I haven’t shaken my plants so much, just set them upside down and let the water drain naturally.
Make sure to submerge the large air plant like you did the small air plant. Tillandsia roots main purpose is to attach itself to trees and rocks in nature and the roots take up very little water.
