Hallsome Farm uses sustainable farming methods and demonstrates how to bend pipe for building a greenhouse structure. A Quonset greenhouse is a type of greenhouse with a rounded, tunnel-like shape made from arched PVC pipes or metal frames covered with plastic sheeting. To build a Quonset greenhouse, use a PVC pipe bender to gently bend the pipes into the desired arch shape, following the size and design of the hut. Be careful not to bend them too much or make any kinks, as that could make the greenhouse unusable.
Step 1 involves squared corner stakes with each other and drive corner stakes and the rest of the piping into half-circles. Attach each piece to two parallel fence posts. After the base of the greenhouse is in place, measure out the amount of netting needed. Building a Quonset-style greenhouse is easier because you will need to be able to bend your own hoops. Hoop benders are made to bend specific radiuses, making them useful for bending 10′ poles (10′ 6″ with swag).
Greenhouses are mazes of tubing of various sorts, and the only way to create one is by cutting and threading lots of pipe for steam heat, spray, and irrigation lines. The materials needed include schedule 40 1″ PVC pipe, 1-1/4″ pipe and tees, thin rope or strong webbing, and tent stakes to anchor it.
In summary, building a Quonset greenhouse requires the ability to bend pipes and use a PVC pipe bender to create a greenhouse structure.
