Western Red Cedar Staging represents a premium cedar staging product that is naturally resistant to rot and does not require any chemical treatment. Where should you not put a greenhouse?

Place a greenhouse under tall trees to reduce sunlight and prevent glass damage. High walls, hedges, and trees can serve as windbreaks, providing shelter without blocking light. These barriers keep plants warm and prevent wind damage during storms. However, it’s important to ensure the trees are a suitable distance to provide shelter without blocking light. Providing ample room for cleaning and maintenance is crucial for maintaining a healthy greenhouse environment.

What is the best phase change material for a greenhouse?

Biochar-based phase change materials (PCMs) are ideal for energy conservation in greenhouses, but they require higher specific surface area biochar to increase polyethylene glycol loading and enhance thermal conductivity for efficient heat transfer. What is the most profitable thing to grow in polytunnel?

Growing exotic and unfamiliar crops in your polytunnel can lead to high profits for experienced gardeners. People appreciate novelty and finding a local market for unique produce can be easier. Additionally, growing cut flowers for cut arrangements and displays can make your polytunnel profitable. Local florists and businesses may appreciate having a wider range of cut flowers locally, rather than having to source them from further away. While there is no need to monetise your garden, a polytunnel can be a good place to start if you want to start your own business.

What is the best way to layout a polytunnel?

Polytunnels with 12ft or wider tunnels typically have two paths with edge beds and a central bed, providing more bed space while ensuring good access. For 10ft polytunnels, the choice between two and three growing areas depends on the situation and personal preferences. The aim is to maximize growing space, but it should not be difficult for the gardener to manage. Paths should be around 1ft in width, though some systems can be even narrower.

Common sense should be used when using a larger tunnel, wheelbarrow, and raised beds. The width of a bed is partly a matter of personal preference, with some preferring wider beds that they cannot reach across, while others prefer keeping everything within arms reach.
