This video provides a step-by-step guide on how to replace runners on a greenhouse door. To replace the runners, measure the diameter of the door roller and assess your greenhouse type and needs. The assembly process involves assembling the legs, front, middle arc, frame, windows, door, windows, and side panels. The greenhouse frame assembly is easier with two people and is essential for glazing with polycarbonate. The site must be prepared so that the base of the greenhouse is level.
To make a door that can open nearly, use greenhouse plastic, roll-up hardware, and round steel tubing. Pull loose plastic flaps up to the door and attach them with clear tape or greenhouse clips. Patch any holes with clear tape. A clear plastic flap can be attached.
To install a door in a greenhouse, position the door into the frame, ensuring a snug fit. Once assembled, fit the bracket to the top of the door using 25mm countersunk screws and the door handle with 25mm round head screws.

How to secure a greenhouse door?
To ensure the safety of your greenhouse, it is essential to position it in a location that is as sheltered from wind as possible. Consider planting hedges or positioning fences as protection from future winds. Choose the strongest greenhouse you can afford, as the more you spend on the basic frame, the stronger the frame will be. If your greenhouse has clips, use silicone sealant to secure them, or replace them with Bar capping, a full-length PVC capping system that secures the glass all the way up and holds it more firmly in windy conditions.
Ensure your greenhouse is securely anchored down to the floor using brown Rawl plugs and 2″ no 10 screws. If your greenhouse is on slabs or concrete, drill and screw it down with brown Rawl plugs and 2″ no 10 screws using a 7mm hammer drill bit. Attach your greenhouse properly to your metal base, drilling through the sill of the greenhouse, through the base, and bolting them together with a standard greenhouse bolt and nut.
Shadow your greenhouse by situating fences or hedging in the way of prevailing winds. Be aware that areas that look “sheltered” may actually be “wind tunnels”. Before heavy winds, ensure that doors and windows are closed and stay closed during the wind. If you have a sliding door with no catch, secure it by drilling a hole in the top door track and inserting a padlock.
After heavy winds, check your greenhouse for any loose clips or panes that may have blown out. Reposition the clips and use silicone sealant to keep them in place. Never attempt to repair your greenhouse while it is still windy. If you haven’t ordered your greenhouse yet, choose a Hercules or Robinsons greenhouse for the best wind resistance.

How do push pull door handles work?
Decorative push/pull handles are a type of door hardware that allows for easy closing and opening by pushing and pulling on the handle. They offer a classic look and come in various options, including more ornate and standard designs. Thumb latch handlesets are another option, offering a classic look and design. When pushed down on the thumb latch, the door unlocks, allowing for easy pulling or pushing. Both options are available in various finishes and styles.
Why is my door handle not working from inside?
To repair a tubular latch, check for wear or damage, such as loose springs or sticking parts. If the latch bolt tongue cannot be pressed inwards, it’s likely broken and beyond repair. Additionally, check for debris blocking the lugs in the door handle, as this can prevent the lock follower from functioning properly. If the borehole width was too small during the handle fitting, make it wider using a screwdriver or drill. To avoid issues, avoid completely unscrewing the grub screw, as they are easily lost due to their small size. Instead, turn a quarter or half a turn and remove them.
Where do you put the handle on an internal door?
To prepare and place a door handle, lay a dust sheet and drill and chisel the door. If you’re not confident, consult a professional for chiselling the strike plate. The most common height for a door handle is 1000mm from the floor, which should be used for all internal doors for convenience and aesthetics. Standard UK regulations require door handles to be installed between 900mm and 1050mm off the floor.
To mark out a door handle, place a tape measure on the floor in front of the door, mark 1000mm with a pencil on both sides, and use a marking-out template to mark the location of the holes. Drill small holes and mark them when satisfied. Use the recommended drill bit size to make the final holes.

Should you leave greenhouse door open in summer?
To ensure optimal greenhouse ventilation, use a maximum-minimum thermometer to monitor the temperature and be alert for signs of plant damage. Open doors and vents on sunny days, and temporarily remove panes to help during heat waves. Fit automatic vent openers to ensure roof vents open even when you’re not around, but remember that it takes time for the wax to expand. Provide alternative ventilation such as doors and side vents to prevent damaging temperatures. In changeable weather, vents and doors may need to be partially open to limit sudden temperature increases. Larger greenhouses may require automated ventilation and shading.
Shading is usually required from mid-spring until early autumn to release some heat but limits the light plants receive. Use only the minimum amount of shading to keep temperatures below 25-27ºC (77-81ºF), allowing as much light in as possible, especially for edible plants like tomatoes. Sun-loving plants like succulents may not need shading, but providing shade can make the greenhouse more pleasant.
How does an outside door handle work?
A lever is a horizontal metal bar that moves when applied pressure to open or close a door. A spindle is inserted through the latch and handle, connecting handles on either side and allowing the latch bolt to operate. A strike plate is a metal plate that holds the latch bolt in place when closed. A thumbturn is a locking mechanism that does not require a key to lock the door. A thumbturn and release lock mechanism allows the door to lock from the inside without a key, making it ideal for bathrooms.
How does a door handle work inside?
Internal door handles have two main mechanics: a spindle located in square holes at the back of handles or knobs, and a spring. The spindle rotates when a handle is used or a knob is turned, operating the latch inside the door. Spindles come in two sizes: 8mm for door handles and knobs and 5mm for bathroom turn and release bolts. Most modern handles have a spring inside the backplates or roses that returns the door handle to its original position, ensuring it remains in place. Some knobs and older handles are unsprung, requiring a heavy-duty sprung latch or lock to operate effectively.
