How Many Daisies In Yellow Were There?

In the first season finale of Gilmore Girls, Lorelai explains to her boyfriend Max (Scott Cohen) that a proper proposal should look like a thousand yellow daisies and candles. Fans learned that there were more than a thousand yellow daisies in the room when Max proposed to Lorelai. The “banana cream” cultivar is a type of yellow daisy with big blooms, and there are hundreds, if not thousands of types of daisies in the world.

The Dahlberg Daisy has yellow daisy-like flowers that are divided into small and narrow segments, usually yellow or orange-yellow, and have darker yellow centers. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, show co-creator Amy Sherman-Palladino explained the excess of daisies: “A thousand yellow… I mean, there must be at least 1000 of them. That’s right. There’s exactly 1000 of them. Order states there’s to be”. The scene was set in the first season, where Max, one of Rory’s teachers at Chilton, memorably proposed to Lorelai by sending her 1,000 yellow daisies early on in the series.

In conclusion, fans of Gilmore Girls can appreciate the abundance of yellow daisies in the room during Max’s proposal to Lorelai. The show’s co-creator Amy Sherman-Palladino explained that there were more than just 1,000 yellow daisies for the dramatic effect of the scene.

  • THE BEST PROPOSAL EVER! I would feel so loved! I love Luke/Lorelai but Max was by far the best man Lorelai ever dated! Not perfect but he was very close to it! So well-rounded, handsome and had a great sense of humour! He always wanted to do what was best for Lorelai and Rory! He was always more committed to her than she was to him! Yet still Lorelai let him go like a dandelion seed or a penny! He was really was too good for her

  • I liked max more then I liked Luke. Luke and Lorelei were so immature. Max was mature and too good for Lorelei she was not ready for a adult relationship. I think her and Luke were perfect for each other because neither of them we’re committed to their partners when in a relationship. When Luke was married he wasn’t living with his wife. When Lorelai dated someone she needed the town’s approval they were both a mess…
