Harry D. “Jiggs” Comes, Jr., 80, of Crosby, passed away on July 26, 2018, at his home in Crosby. Born on April 11, 1938, in Port Al, Comes was a passionate advocate for forest and wildlife awareness and education. He founded the Donald J. Comes Natural Resources Learning Center on 9011 Route 46, which offers hands-on educational experiences at their 41-acre outdoor learning center. Comes was born at the Safstrom Maternity Hospital. He passed away on March 31, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. The center also features a 41-acre outdoor learning center with a greenhouse, east porch, bomb shelter, and bomb shelter added by architect Raymond Vernor Hall.
