Archeology is kind of useful to have a degree. I do geography and environmental science at uni now but i’d also like to do an archeology degree in the future. It’s because a lot of information that the professors give are really hard to find for the general public. You also have to learn about who is respected in the field and who isn’t because there are a lot of people that the public respected that are shunned by professionals as simple frauds and don’t actually know what they are talking about. To get into the field it would be helpful to have recommendations and a mentor.
My ex boyfriend had a psychology degree and was incredibly fortunate that his mum got him a work placement at the school she worked at which enabled him to go on to do a phd in educational psychology. However this is very much the exception to the rule. If that door wasn’t opened for him who knows what he would be doing right now.
