Building a greenhouse in a cave in Ark Survival Evolved is possible by placing foundations, building a greenhouse around it, and adding crops. Fertilizer and an irrigation system are required to achieve the desired greenhouse effect. The greenhouse panels check for non-greenhouse structures or terrain or objects directly above them for X distance. If the greenhouse is open to the sky, it will provide 15 greenhouse effects each.
Greenhouse walls, ceilings, and roofs provide 15 greenhouse effects each. Nearby walls and ceilings can also provide 15 greenhouse effects. As of patch version 255.5, players must crouch inside a greenhouse only one wall tall. Greenhouse walls do not need to be level with the ground.
The greenhouse is not necessary to plant crops in ARK, but having one ensures faster crop growth and less use of resources. However, placing a greenhouse ceiling 2 tiles above a plot in an underwater cave did not have any effect. Players can try placing one tile above and see if it works.
In some caves, such as the North Snow Cave on the center, the greenhouse effect may be negligible. To activate a greenhouse in a cave, players must activate their server and place a greenhouse tile near it. The greenhouse effect is shown by looking at all crop plots now, even without a greenhouse tile near it.
