What A Monarch Of Rain-Lily Soil?

Rain lilies are easy to care for once planted, and they thrive in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH level. They prefer soil that is rich in organic matter, which helps retain moisture while allowing excess water to drain away. Plant them in a location where the soil drains well and they will receive full sun. If you notice water puddles 5-6 hours after a hard rain, find another spot to plant.

Rain lilies bloom in response to late season and should be planted 1-2″ deep and 6 inches apart for a border. For a clump of lilies, still plant 1-2″ deep, but 2-3″ inches apart and water them in well, allowing soil to settle around bulbs. Leave the plant for the next season.

To plant small rain lily bulbs in well-draining soil during the fall season, place them about an inch deep and 3 inches deep. Apply a balanced rain lily fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season, especially water-soluble fertilizers. Plant them in well-drained soil, giving them full sun.
