Ways To Dilute Your Urine?

Urinary incontinence is a common issue that can be managed by several strategies. One of the most effective ways to slow down the flow of urine is by drinking water wisely, changing your diet, and avoiding “just in case” situations. Additionally, setting a bathroom schedule, practicing mindful meditation, acupuncture, and shifting fluid intake to earlier in the day can help maintain hydration and keep the kidneys and bladder healthy.

Some medical conditions can make urine appear more concentrated, so it’s essential to limit water and diuretic intake before administering a urine test. Collecting urine in the early morning or before work can also help prevent urine dilution.

Diluted urine occurs when there’s too much water in the urine, making the concentration weaker, which may affect the test results. Drinking large volumes of non-toxic water-based liquids, such as Gatorade, can dilute urine, but it’s crucial not to add too much water to the urine. Consuming too much coffee, tea, or cranberry juice can also dilute urine, but adding too much water won’t affect the test results.

To pass urine tests, increase fluid intake and urine flow to dilute the concentration of drugs in the urine. Some suggest eight glasses consumed within two hours of a drug test, while others suggest 24 ounces. To avoid a positive dilute test result, wash yourself out and drink Gatorade an hour before the test.

In summary, reducing urination frequency, changing diet, and avoiding diuretics can help slow down urine flow and improve overall health.

📹 What Happens If You Hold Your Pee In For Too Long

Everyone holds in their pee every now and then. And that’s okay! Just don’t do it too often, or it could lead to some serious …

Can too much water dilute urine?

A diluted urine specimen for a drug test may be the result of excessive water consumption prior to the test. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to refrain from consuming an excess of fluids, as the consumption of an additional glass of water is sufficient.

How long after drinking water to pee?

Water absorption can occur 5 minutes after ingestion and peaks around 20 minutes due to kidneys producing urine. The digestive tract processes water in an abbreviated process, with not every organ being involved in every step. If drinking a lot of water, it’s important to have a bathroom nearby. The water enters the stomach and is processed through the small intestine and the large intestine (colon), with most being absorbed into the bloodstream from the small intestine.

How much water does it take to flush pee?

Design improvements have allowed toilets to use 1. 28 gallons per flush or less, a 20% reduction from the current federal standard of 1. 6 gallons per flush. WaterSense labeled toilets are independently certified to meet EPA’s criteria for performance and efficiency. Only water-saving toilets that complete the third-party certification process can earn the WaterSense label. Installing a WaterSense labeled toilet is a high-performance, water-efficient option for remodeling bathrooms, starting construction of new homes, or replacing old, leaky toilets.

These toilets are available at various price points and styles, and in many areas, utilities offer rebates and vouchers to lower the price. A WaterSense labeled dual-flush toilet can save even more water by using a “reduced flush” mode.

How to remove urine build up?

Urine scale is a stubborn yellowish-brown stains in the toilet bowl, rim, and around the U-bend. It is caused by chemical reactions between calcium in toilet water and substances in urine. It is as hard as mineral stone and can be removed quickly and effectively using household remedies such as hydrochloric acid, baking powder, lemon juice, dishwasher tablets, vinegar, Cola, and denture cleaners. A clean toilet is essential for a welcoming bathroom, but urine stains can also promote bacteria growth. Understanding and preventing urine scale can help maintain a clean and inviting bathroom.

Will 2 liters of water dilute urine?

The consumption of one to two liters of urine within an hour of testing has been demonstrated to dilute most specimens for a period of two to six hours. Additionally, the ingestion of diuretics such as caffeine and cranberry juice, as well as certain medications, has also been shown to result in urine samples with lower concentrations of analytes.

Can I drink water before a urine test?

Urinalysis tests typically do not require any preparation, but if you are unable to urinate, you may need to drink extra water. However, excessive water intake can lead to inaccurate results. Urinalysis results typically include the test name, the substance measured, the result, which can be a number, positive or negative, or a descriptive word. If countable substances are found, the results may be listed as “few”, “moderate”, or “many”. The normal value or range for the result indicates if the result is within the expected range. The results may appear as a list or table depending on the test provider’s order.

Does water neutralize urine?

The sole product capable of neutralizing the deleterious effects of urine is water. Conversely, salts such as gypsum and baking soda can exacerbate the problem, while dishwashing detergents facilitate the movement of water into and through soil.

Why can't I hold my pee?

Why can’t I hold my pee?

Urinary incontinence is a common issue in women, often resulting from issues with the muscles and nerves that help the bladder hold or pass urine. Health events like pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause can also contribute to this issue. Overweight can weaken the bladder muscles, making it difficult to hold urine. Chronic constipation can also cause problems with bladder control, as it puts stress on the bladder and pelvic floor muscles. Nerve damage can occur from childbirth, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis, causing the bladder muscles to not function properly.

Surgical procedures, such as hysterectomy, can damage the pelvic floor muscles, causing the bladder muscles to not function properly. Urinary incontinence may also be a side effect of certain medications, such as diuretics, which can cause incontinence to go away when stopped. Consuming too much caffeine can cause the bladder to fill quickly, causing urine leakage. Limiting caffeine intake may help with incontinence as it reduces strain on the bladder. Infections of the urinary tract and bladder can also cause incontinence for a short time, but bladder control often returns when the infection subsides.

What can make a urine test negative?

A negative drug test result may be due to insufficient drug levels or untimely substance use. However, it doesn’t rule out recent substance use or a substance use disorder. A drug test detects drugs and their metabolites in a biological sample, such as urine or blood. Metabolic processes occur at different speeds for different drugs, allowing the test to detect them within a specific timeframe. Understanding a drug test result is crucial for identifying potential drug abuse.

What can soak up urine?

Urine should be cleaned immediately after urination, wiping the area until no urine remains and using old newspapers to soak up urine. If a towel cannot be washed and dried without odor, throw it away. For stubborn urine stains, consider using an enzymatic cleaner, which binds with and destroys uric acid crystals in urine from mammals. The enzyme products have the correct combination of ingredients to eliminate bacteria surrounding the urine, causing the odor. Using a black light can help identify stains, and while using the light, mark any stains with chalk to locate and erase them. This method helps to remove stubborn odors from urine.

Can diluted urine give a false negative?

Can diluted urine give a false negative?

Urine dilution can hinder accurate drug test results, but it doesn’t necessarily indicate cheating. Some individuals consume excessive water to maintain health or ensure sufficient urine production. Certain medications and kidney issues can also cause dilution. To prevent this, limit water and diuretic intake before administering the test and collect urine early in the morning or before work.

  • Fun fact: schools are legally required to let you go to the bathroom if you need to. They cannot control whether or not you can go. You have the right to use the bathroom, and you can literally walk out if you really need to. (Bathroom access is also a human right according to the 2015 UN General Assembly) Edit: I’m not suggesting you should just get up and leave whenever you want, you should always be courteous and try to work things out with the teacher if you need some form of special accommodation, I’m just saying if there’s a sudden emergency then you shouldn’t feel compelled to put your health at risk just for this

  • I remember once holding my pee for 4 hours after drinking over a liter and a half of water beforehand. I don’t know why I haven’t just stopped at a gas station or something but I insisted on making it home. My bladder felt like it was about to explode for a solid 30 minutes and any small movement of my body made it hurt like hell. But the worst part was when I had finally made it home and tried to get out of the car to go to the bathroom. I’ve spent 15 minutes to walk from my car to the bathroom. I couldn’t stand up right from the pain. Needless to say it was the longest peeing session of my life and the relief I felt was unmatched by anything else. That day I was really worried that my bladder would actually pop. I will never allow my self to reach that stage again.

  • Update: (I have left this comment under one of your YouTube shorts!) I have a stretched bladder. I didn’t learn about this until 7th grade (now in 9th grade) although I have been doing this for now five years. As a victim, I am just here to tell others that it can be very painful when you have been doing it for maybe two years (I started at 10, but it left me with the most pain I ever felt at 12, even though I have never been pregnant before I would describe it as labor. That is how painful it was for me.) Now almost 15, I got into the habit of actually going when I feel like I have to. I initially started doing it out of pleasure (yes, you read that correctly.) and then it later got out of control. This is why teaching important things about our bodies at a young age is so vital. I didn’t learn about any of this until I was 13-14 years old. I now have a very sensitive stretched bladder but fortunately it is not too late to get better. 🙂 although irreversible, I can help myself before I kill myself with the amount of germs in my organs (it can kill you slowly over time, just to note.) This goes out to whoever may need this. Please protect your organs and God bless.

  • Damn, I’ve always thought it was the opposite. I thought your sphincter muscles were a “use it or lose it” thing, where you had to keep them active and practice holding it to get the muscle stronger, and if you just go right away every time you even kinda have to, you’d end up incontinent because your sphincter isn’t getting enough exercise at holding it. I remember hearing an anecdote from someone that they spent years working on a farm, where they would just pee wherever anytime they had to go and would never hold it… and said that a result he lost his ability to hold it, and every time he has to pee now, it’s an emergency. That made a lot of sense to me, as muscles need exercise and use to stay strong, or they atrophy. Now this tells me the opposite. I feel like if I trust it, I’ll be told it’s better to hold it years from now, when I’m incontinent.

  • Me telling my teacher : If u don’t let use the bathroom, i will hold in in. If i hold it in too much, i can bacteria disease then I will have completely no control of my bladder then it will back up to my kidneys and I’ll die. Then you will get sued and fired, lose your job, be poor and lonely for the rest if your life just because you didn’t let me use the bathroom:( Teacher: …interesting

  • I remember doing this once for two hours when i was 7, basically on christmas day after we left the church we instantly went to a hotel instead of going home which was two hours away and i held it in for the whole ride, i still remember going to pee when i reached the hotel and it was legit the best feeling in the world, i wish i could relive it again

  • Midwife here: It is not good to hold in for too long. However it is also not good for your bladder and for your pelvic floor muscles to empty the bladder too often (i.e. When it not even half way full). This could result in the reflex of loosing the normal capacity of the bladder and having the urge to pee way too often and too early thus you always search for private places. And another hint: even if you not have had a baby the muscles of your pelvic floor will get weaker with the years if you don’t train them. But never ever train them while your peeing!!

  • Years ago I was hospitalized because I was exhibiting symptoms of MS and my bladder stopped functioning. I had to wear a catheter and walked around with a big o’l bag of pee strapped to my leg. During my recovery I remember being in the hospital bathroom with my mom and attempted peeing – hearing that beautiful trickling sound sent both of us into tears of relief and happiness. Moral of the story, never take peeing for granted.

  • Interesting! In some radiation treatments for prostate cancer, the patient is asked to have a full bladder for the daily treatments. Apparently this aids in preventing unintended harm to the bladder during treatments. How many times can you do this before the bladder/kidney could be harmed? Typical treatment might be 40 treatments over an 8 week span.

  • Who else feels releasing pee after holding it for a loooong time is the greatest feeling. I mean when u have been holding for a long time and wanting to go to washroom and then after a long long time u go and release urine. The feeling is so good!! Edit: I am really surprised that I got so many likes and replies in a comment.I never got any more replies than 3 before. Thanks guys.

  • I used to hold in my urine when I was 10-15. I was afraid to go due to falling behind & my anxiety from other issues sort of affected it. Sure I got the odd kidney infection but I’m grand. No major damage to the bladder, kidneys or sphincter. IMPORTANT: I don’t recommend it but once you get over the infections you get a larger bladder which is helpful

  • It’s me at the beginning! I was perusal Avatar The Way Of Water at the cinema and after 15 minutes I wanted to pee while the film lasts 3 hours. I’ve never wanted this much in my life. I managed to sneak into the bathroom at the end of the movie and I didn’t know how they got out of the boat so I went back to see a second session. 😂

  • Yeah, but for people with paruresis or shy bladder syndrome it is many times necessary to hold it in for longer periods of time so that your bladder is really full and that the urgency to go and urinate is really big. This makes it a lot easier to urinate in front of other people in public restrooms.

  • Me: “Teacher may I go to washroom” Teacher: “No you mayn’t” Me: “But I can’t control it” Teacher: “Get back to your seat Right Now !” Me: “Fine I hope you don’t mind it all if make this floor little bit wet” Teacher: “Get out of the class” Me: “Thanks Teacher, That’s exactly what I wanted in this kind of uncontrollable situation”

  • I have a bathroom-associated social anxiety due to a dangerous, trsumatic experience that I had in a bathroom. When there are people nearby my body automatically goes into fight or flight mode and I am totally unable to relax my urinal sphincter. Imagine what kind of suffering it is to have this issue every time you go to pee. I have worked on it and has improved significantly over the years but I believe its so important to make this known, to let the world know about this issue. It is very common but people who suffer from this, suffer in secret because of shame

  • Me-can I use the bathroom Teacher-we are on the middle of class!!!! Me-we’ll I could die! Teacher-I’m your science teacher I know all about pee Me-if you say so Teacher-where’s Lucy? Students-she died! Teacher-how? Students-well you didn’t let her use the bathroom!!! Teacher-……… 1 like equals one more day for Lucy to live! Edit1-omg thanks so much for 1k this is amazing I’ve never had so many likes!!❤️

  • I held in my pee once from the drive to Salt Lake to Las Vegas and I would of gone but all the gas stations were gross and it freaked me out and then I decided to wait until I got to the hotel and we arrived in Vegas during rush hour and we were stuck in traffic and I was desperate to go so I peed in s cup that we had and dumped it out on the freeway and some of it landed in a guys truck but the lesson is to go to nice gas stations and pee before you go on the road.

  • I was finally diagnosed with a dead bladder – meaning the muscle that is your bladder that would allow me to pee didn’t work. At all. So, my bladder was filling up, I felt like I had to go but could only go as much as gravity would let me, and I had so many UTI’s (and finally a kidney issue). At first they thought I had overactive bladder since I had to “go” so often – but that was just the gravity telling me my bladder was full. After being treated for OAB and not getting better, I was referred to a urologist. Bottom line – he figured out what my issue was, and now I manually cath at least 5 times a day to keep my bladder as empty as possible. I always have a low grade infection because it is impossible to totally empty my bladder with the cath, but nothing serious. I don’t have the same feeling of having to go as other people; I just have to judge when it is a good time. Welcome to my life…. LOL My point is don’t ignore your bladder. It can actually be telling you something needs to be addressed!

  • I’ve always said that if your body tells you that you need to urinate you should urinate. As a 60 something BPH sufferer this has been rammed home with a vengence. My problem is mostly well controlled with medication, but if I can’t go when I need to I suffer for hours afterwards. I also worked with a female colleague who refused to use the toilet on a long flight and wound up with a horrific UTI.

  • There was a time I did cross country. After the race we had to be on the bus hours. We went to Mc.Donalds, for dinner. I was hungry and bought chicken nuggets, large French fries, and a smoothie, with a large soda. I are and drank it all down. We went back on the bus and thirty minutes later. I had to pee I asked the coach when was the next bus stop. He said in two hours. I sat down, without telling him the problem. Thirty minutes rolls bye and I’m desperate. I told him the problem and he said I had to hold it. Ten minutes went by and I thought I was going to cry. I begged him to stop the bus so I could pee out in the woods. But there were no woods. Two hours later and we FINALLY got to the gas station. I ran into the bathroom, and let me tell you. It was the best feeling ever. For real, I thought I was going to pee my pants.

  • Me: C-can I use the bathroom..? Teacher: Can you? I’m in the middle of a lesson. Me: But~ Teacher: Unless it’s an emergency, no. Me: Ok… After school Me: *sends this article to teacher* Teacher: *Le epically sees article in shock* The next day Me: Teacher, c-can I use the bathroom this time? Teacher: Go all you want.

  • Yep! My old school was absolutely horrible – I had a condition where I retained urine and near constantly needed the toilet, but they were really strict – as well as this, there were so many students that actually getting to use the toilet was a luxury in itself. Thanks to this I got frequent UTIs, and at one point didn’t go to the doctor after I got a UTI again and it travelled up to my kidneys and gave me a kidney infection – luckily I moved schools shortly after. Still, years of pain, discomfort, and embarrassment from the scent I got from a combo of UTIs and leaking led to bullying and anxiety, it was horrible. Lesson learned? F*** strict teachers, if you gotta go, you gotta go. I’m lucky to be somewhere where we’re allowed to leave in lessons, and there are plenty of cubicles. Still, to this day I can’t drink during school hours or else I’ll be stuck on the toilet all day.

  • Absolutely, an old classmate destroyed his bladder because he refused to go to the toilet at school for years (the floor was constantly flooded with urine, kids shat in every surface inside including walls, toilet lids and upper deckers, the same kids that did all that would hand out in there all morning, etc).

  • In school, they do not allow us to go to the bathroom. They only allow it sometimes. Actually, when the students say that they want to go to the bathroom, they don’t go to the bathroom, they go out to chat with people and waste time. That’s why teachers don’t allow us to go. They let us go only when it’s very urgent. This is a problem, because it’s not good to hold your urine. You might get a UTI or kidney damage.

  • I’m a teacher and I let my students go to the toilet unless there’s 5 minutes left. When I was a trainee, I had that trauma where there were 10 minutes left, so I said no. 2 minutes before it rang, she bursted in tears while peeing herself. Never saw so much pee in one sitting, her classmates told me she held it all day because she really doesn’t like to go to the toilet at school. Please be understanding. I was a trainee, it was my first year + no experience with kids before. And we were told that usually they could wait. You hear everything and anything during that training year. Fortunately, it was a good middle school, and the classmates were super supportive.

  • I once held my pee for the majority of the two towers, lord of the rings. When the movie finished, and I went to pee, I stood there with a strong stream for close to a minute or more. To this day, I think that has affected my urinary retention. I have to constantly pee maybe 4-6 times in a work day. Maybe more depending how much I drink. Sometimes I’ll feel the urge after peeing 30 minutes ago. Feels uncomfortable if I do t go and relieve myself.

  • “Surgical bladder” is a thing. We can’t just dash out whenever we want so we hold it for long periods. Sometimes up to 10 or 12 hours depending upon the surgical procedure. Speaking of surgery please don’t hold your urine for long periods on road trips because guess what ruptures first during an accident if you do? You got it and it’s because the seatbelt is usually placed right over the top.

  • Now, i DONT u understand the reason they made a rule in school, Not to be able to go to the toilet when pause ended or whatever. They keep on saying “No, you must’ve did it in the pause.” Like if we didn’t need to go then. Sorry but some teachers are too serious. If you need to pee, u have to pee. And that’s it? (Edit: im not being mad or anything, just trying to tell the truth.)

  • I have been holding in my pee since I was a really young because the potty training Elmo toilet traumatized my little self so I avoided using the bathroom. Even after learning how to use a regular toilet I still hold it in. I don’t even think about it now, I just do it. However holding in my pee for the majority of my life has affected me a lot. Lately I have had small accidents where I sneeze and my bladder lets go a bit and pee comes out. Luckily I have been in my house when these accidents happened but now that it’s happening more often I’m scared to have an accident when I’m outside….I’m less the 16 years old

  • Bladder infections are also not fun. Especially when you develop “bladder crystals” that get stuck halfway down your urethra until the next time you have to go and so you’re just waiting for the next time you have to pee just to push it out despite the pain that causes and hoping another doesn’t get stuck behind the first one.

  • I know keenly what this is, since I myself have urinary retention issues. And very highly so, I know about a contestant who ended up in very serious urinary trouble (maybe died) in that “Hold Your Pee For a Wii” competition. The dangers of holding your pee too long could make you very sick or even kill you. The dangers….. 1. You could end up getting a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). An acute one. 2. The backup of urine if it blows back into the kidneys can totally wipe out the kidneys’ filtration systems, leading to acute kidney failure, which is a medical emergency. (It is like diabetic ketoacidosis – you don’t treat it in time – death is likely – but with AKF, the treatment is temporary dialysis until the kidneys can re-filtrate again.) 3. Urinary retention is possible if the backed up urine contents dry out the urethra bad enough that it can cause a blockage of that when you try to urinate. 4. Your bladder muscle can blow up (burst) like a balloon from too much volume of urine that is not released in time, and if that happens, you will need to have emergency surgery for an alternative access exit of all of your urine. Other potential dangers…… The urinary backup could go right back into the scrotum and probably blow away the whole inner layer of the perineum, subjecting you to the threat of life-threatening Fournier’s Gangrene. This is necrotizing fasciitis of the penis/testicles/scrotum. You have a much higher risk of that if you have Type 2 diabetes or an existing urinary tract infection involving any bacteria responsible for necrotizing fasciitis.

  • I’ve been getting bladder infections since I was 3, you get those from holding your pee. I went to the hospital a few years ago and they said I can’t fully fill up my bladder and I can’t pee it all out.. I use to get atleast 2-3 per month but now I only get 1-2 every 3-4 months. And I can’t even control if I get them or not, even if I don’t hold my pee in I get them. I’m also amune to lots of medicine for them so it’s hard to find medicine that works 😳

  • True story back when I was around 14-15 (now 21). Went to New Zealand with family for the winter holidays and boy…that was the hardest time that I ever held on to not peeing myself. So basically I already held it for 30 minutes (I did go before we left for the new destination, the thing was that I drank a lot of liquids so it kept generating more…) when we had 40km left (that usually roughly translates to another 40-60 minutes of driving) on a bumpy gravel road like there was no tomorrow…to make matters worse it also made me a bit carsick (usually not) So when we arrived at the hotel, I was the first one to bolt out of the car, ask the receptionist where the washroom was and relived myself. Not bragging or anything (I’m sure that at one point all of us start counting how long it takes finish peeing especially after we held it for so long) but it lasted 3 minutes… Now that I’m 21 I can safely say that that is by far the hardest time that I ever had to hold in my pee, at least for now…ok, maybe too much information. Have an awesome day/night everyone! 😀

  • In first grade our teacher was asking us a question. No one knew the answer so she went to her desk and waited on us to find the answer. I had my hand raised for about 15 minutes because I had to go to the bathroom. She wouldn’t call on me so I told my friend that I had to go so bad. She told me to go to her desk and ask her. I was in complete shock because I could’ve done that 15 minutes ago. Anyway so I went to her desk really slow because I didn’t want to pee myself. I asked her and she said to go to the one next door. It only took me 2 steps and I peed all on the floor. The class didn’t say anything. So she sent me to the nurses office. That’s better than going to their bathroom because our bathroom in our classroom was flooded and so was the one next door. So yeah, that’s my embarrassing pee story. And I’m in 6th grade now

  • Your bladder is a giant muscle and everyone knows every muscle can be trained. If you hold your pee long everyday you are also training it and you can keep your pee longer and longer day by day. At least thats wat i have heard of my teacher… but its also bad to do it like this vid says. But its actually quite handy for if you hate to go to public bathrooms and youre at school/work… than you could hold it long enough. I myself can hold up to 8 hours if needed after my first bathroom. Also depends on how much you drank though.

  • When I was on the bus for school I had to hold my pee, for 8 hours……my school was so far…so my solution so I wouldn’t pee myself was sleep😂, but since I don’t go to school anymore (Home School cuz of bullying and to long of a ride anddddd waking up at 4:00 in the morning when I’m a night bird) I don’t need to hold my pee <3 hope my bladder is happier xD

  • Hmm teacher, can I go to the toilet, please… Teacher: no, break will be in 90 minutes… Me: but I have to Teacher: I DON‘T CARE! Me: -.- Why do teachers do this, just because they don‘t go that often to the toilet while class, that doesn’t mean that a student has to hold pee for like A WHOLE DAY IN SCHOOL…

  • Actually toxic mold will cause Mast Cell and that will cause bladder issues. It caused me to end up with Interstitial Cystitis and eventually bladder retention and neurogenic bladder. It got so bad I had to use a catheter to pee. Luckily changing my diet helped considerably. Also Rick Simpson Oil. At one point my pain was so bad I wanted my bladder removed. I was willing to have a bag. I knew where every bathroom was in eveey gas station, store, etc.. But luckily now days I rarely have pain or problems. If my pain starts to flare I know I am being exposed to toxic mold and I up my detox protocols which nips it in the bud real quick.

  • I always held it in as a kid. I was always busy doing something and found it so annoying to have to stop and go to the bathroom. I have adhd by the way. I could hold it in for hours, all day in fact. sometimes I wouldn’t go until the next day. I can’t imagine how much I was holding. at the age of 14/15 my bladder was weak and nearly every time I went to the bathroom it ached like hell. please don’t hold it in if you don’t have to. just go. It’s not worth it.
