In Sahelian silvopastoral systems, trees offset almost 30 of greenhouse gas emissions from livestock. The annual impact of silvopasture in 2030 is 0.55–1.07 gigatons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year, which is in line with Lal et al.’s 2018 benchmark. This analysis suggests that silvopasture could offer both climate change mitigation and enhanced profitability for farmers across the eastern U.S.
