In Ark: Survival Evolved, building greenhouse structures in caves provides no greenhouse effect. To achieve this effect, players must build two walls, either greenhouse or not, and add one or two greenhouse walls over the entire area until they reach 300 effectiveness. The ceiling/roof directly above the crop plot needs to be greenhouse for it to get any greenhouse effect at all. The total Greenhouse Effect is based on the total number of greenhouse structures consecutively attached to it.
Building greenhouse structures in caves provides no greenhouse effect. Players must crouch inside a greenhouse only one wall tall as of patch 255.5. Greenhouse walls do not need to be level with the ground.
Greenhouse Structures are the fourth building tier in ARK’s Building System and are made of Crystal, Cementing Paste, and Metal Ingots. The Greenhouse Ceiling, Sloped Greenhouse Roof, and the Greenhouse Panels check for non-greenhouse structures or terrain or objects directly above them for X distance.
In Ark: Survival Evolved, the greenhouse effect is achieved by building greenhouse walls, ceilings, and roofs that provide 15 greenhouse effects each. To create a greenhouse effect, players can build one corner of the greenhouse with a glass ceiling with clear access to the sky above. Even a partial blockage by a cliff wall or structure will prevent the 300 greenhouse effect.
To build greenhouse structures in caves, players must enclose the entire structure in greenhouse walls and ceilings, use a greenhouse door, ensure water access to the plants, and ensure proper ventilation.

Here are my favorite techniques to build in uneven terrain. Fence foundations are definitely OP and allow us to connect structures …

Loved the article. I realize there are console players out there, and this article is meant especially for vanilla players, but my preferred way to build is with clipping disabled and the S+ mod, which allows foundation stacking. Honestly, foundation stacking is all wild card needs to add to fix most of these problems.
Thats crazy man. Yeah I think people should build on uneven terrain because while it is more complicated and resource costly. Im confident to say every map has way more uneven terrain than flat land (which IK falls to the devs but we all know how they are and were all completely fine with it). Theres so much land that just doesnt get used and I think needing such perfectly flat land which on populated any type of servers is extremely rare and takes hours to find throws away so much of the map in a sense. But workarounds and articles like this sure do encourage such builds!
Damn, fence foundations are nuts. I’ve recently started playing on a cluster pve server (less headache from having to stay up because of raids) and I have the freedom to finally build something I could enjoy. But I had the idea to have a lifted house inside my base, I was able to place ceilings on pillers but after two or three rows of them I couldn’t because no foundation to snap to. I’m gonna try this when I get on again.
***you can also just walk back wards as straight as possible to try and find a new snap point** the foundation will be lower or higher.. make sure your far enough away so walls dont overlap.. try and angle the camera.. easy to build giant walls adding in litte slight turns with the rotation feature..
This is a fantastic article! I’ve learned a lot from perusal it. I am still having trouble trying to do one thing, though. I am using stone foundations and am having trouble getting my stone ceilings to attach so that the surface is level with the foundation next to it. For example, I place my stone foundation, sink a foundation next to it as you have shown, and then place my fence foundation and my ceiling, but the ceiling still sits higher than the first stone foundation. Is there a way to make them 100% even with each other?
I give up. I’ve been trying this on console for the pass few days and can’t seem to make this work. Doesn’t help that I can’t understand the concept of what your trying to say and just registers as jumbled words to me, but that’s how a lot of things sound to me so it’s sadly the norm. I’ve been trying to recreate what you’ve been doing visually but that’s just not working. The ceiling trick doesn’t extend for me more then two blocks and the lower foundations I manage to place always end up halfway inside the previous foundation. Coordinates I’m trying to work at are 72.7, 35.0 on The Island map if that helps at all.
Very good article, can u pls make for triaangle foundation and cealings articles too, because i did make my base with triangle foundations and cealing and first everything was in stone than i wanted to replace in metal but when i replaced stone pilars with metal ones some part of my base is destroyed and on some part i cant build anymore because it said that i dont have foundation suport i dont understan why
so we’re starting a new game with my little nephews i’m the architect of our group brother is hosting the server and won’t let me use mods now i gotta find a way to cope with the grotesquely bad building system and no offence bro, but you’re no rockstar at explaining things to dummies you started by laying foundations in a straight line until the terrain did not let you anymore and then you placed a bunch of stuff, but you did not continue the straight line that’s all we wanted to see! fine, i’ll figure it out myself
I couldn’t understand this article. First off your accent and marble mouth are hard to understand. Then you don’t even explain why you are doing what your doing so we can understand mechanics. You flew through 6 different things before I even knew what was going on with this first. This article is 2hy youtube should not have removed the dislike.
1. SLOW DOWN. 2. EXPLAIN FLUENTLY, IF YOU’RE GOING TO USE ENGLISH SPEAK CLEARLY. 3. Don’t throw random information around without context. 4. Go step by step how to do whatever it is you’re trying to explain. This is a terrible article. You did nothing to actually teach someone how to build on uneven ground. I followed your article slowly and carefully copying everything you did and guess what? Nothing. Doesn’t work. I guess this is only good for unofficial servers so that makes it useless.
The only thing I wanted to know how to do you can’t seem to find anywhere… How do you intersect stairs or make a ground L or corner shaped with 2 stairs or more… I’m referring to the stairs that can change into a ramp or back to stairs… Every article I came across only shows stairway or staircase tricks…. Nothing what I’m looking for.. basically I would like to curve my stairs. Sorry if I do not know the actual name of the stair shape…
