Methods For Regrowing Indoor Bamboo Plants?

Bamboo cultivation indoors offers a rewarding journey filled with beauty, tranquility, and the satisfaction of nurturing vibrant greenery within your living space. To propagate lucky bamboo indoors, follow these steps:

  1. Choose a pot 2 inches (5 cm) larger in diameter than the plant. Most lucky bamboo plants already come in a pot, but you can use your own.
  2. Take cuttings, which can be trimmed off the parent plant with clean scissors or gardening shears. Place these cuttings directly in water until new roots have formed. Bamboo can also be propagated by planting the cuttings in fresh, moist soil with plenty of drainage.
  3. Place lucky bamboo near filtered or indirect sunlight. Plant in well-draining potting mix or use pebbles as a planting medium with an inch of drainage.
  4. Selectively remove canes to direct the plant’s growth and promote a fuller, more compact appearance. When pruning, it is important to make clean cuts.
  5. Cut a leafy offshoot from a healthy stalk of bamboo with small pruning shears. Gently peel off the offshoot.
  6. Grow your lucky bamboo in a bright spot out of direct sun. Grow in warm rooms around 16-24°C and no cooler than 10°C. Avoid draughty areas.
  7. Train a lucky bamboo plant to spiral with it standing upright using the “open-sided box” method.
  8. Encourage more roots by increasing the amount of water in which the plant is growing. More roots mean lusher top foliage; the higher the water is up the stalk, the more lush the top foliage.
