The 1994 Lincoln Town Car Mass Air Flow Sensor replacement is part 2 of a video series on diagnosing and replacing faulty Mass Air Flow Sensors. The video explains the symptoms, tools needed, and calibration importance for a smoother ride. The most common symptoms of a bad mass air flow sensor are engine performance issues such as rough acceleration or rough idling, along with a check engine light on the dashboard. The MAF or MAP sensor, depending on the model year, can have a mass airflow sensor or manifold absolute pressure sensor (or both).
To diagnose the issue, check the OR wire at the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) pin 49 to verify that it is supplying the PCM with a good supply. If the issue persists, it may be necessary to replace the MAF sensor. The 1996 Lincoln Town Car has a MAF sensor located in the air filter intake hose near the Filter housing.
In a 1990 Lincoln Town Car Sig Series with 85k miles, the mass air flow sensor may need to be replaced. The video also addresses the question of where the map sensor was located on a 1994 Lincoln Town Car.

Just wanted to let everyone perusal this article to know that Harbor Freight sells a 33 piece set of security bits that includes 9 different size TORX security bits (including the T20 size necessary for this job). It only costs $5.99 ! It fits the 2 MAF sensor screws perfectly, and is so much easier than taking out the 4 bolts etc.
Thank you for your time recording and uploading this article. I have a 2001 Continental so my setup is quite a bit different. I wanted to do some research on a dtc PO174 before diving in, and you helped me out. This is a new (but used) car for me. I didn’t actually find the MAF sensor yet, have the proper cleaner, but popped the hood right after perusal your article and noticed a hose had become disconnected… most likely after I recently changed the air filer. This car actually died while waiting at a stop light so I’m confident the sensor is still good. When I have more daylight I’ll properly locate the MAF and use the same cleaner you showed (only my can is much smaller and has plenty left in it from two prior uses). Thank you again, from one DIYer to another!
MY 2004 IS IDING BAD,CLEANED THE INTAKE, OF CARBON,DOES A LOT BETTER,BUT WHEN I AM MAKING A TIGHT TURN LIKE BACKING UP WITH THE WHELL TURNED ALL THE WAY AND I TAP THE GAS AND QUICKLY LET OFF IT KIND OF RETARDS THE ENGINE AND THE BATTERY LIGHT WILL COME ON /FLICKER,UNTIL IT RECOVERS,NEW BATTERY,ALTENATOR CHECKED,,WAITING TO SEE IF DOES BETTER IN THE MORNING AT FIRST STARTT,BEFOR THE CLEANING AS OF TODAY,IN IDELED VERY ROUGH AND I HAD TO PEDAL IT TO KEEP IT RUNNING,THERE WAS NO FAST IDLE UP AT ATART UP AND THEN LEVEL OFF,JUST BAD FROM START UP.
