When you collect CO2 from a reaction between Aqueous HCl and a carbonate compound, there is going to be water vapor in the mix. The water vapor is probably enough to make the air 100 % saturated at the temperature that the experiment is being conducted. The other flask does not have this saturation. Therefore this is a feeble attempt to demonstrate a real phenomenon. It is not a properly controlled experiment.
Pretty disappointed with this experiment. I have recreated this experiment as best i can and i have not seen a change in temperature of thr beaker which contained the CO2. My experiment has been conducted in the same way as you have described and i have been precise with setup. I am sceptical of the results seen in this article.
