Please Don’t Eat the Daisies is a 1960 American sitcom directed by Charles Walters, starring Doris Day, David Niven, Janis Paige, and Spring Byington. The show follows the Nashes of Ridgemont, New York, a suburban family with a drama professor turned theater critic, Larry Mackay, his wife Kate, and their four sons. The show was based on Jean Kerr’s best seller and aired on NBC from September 14, 1965, to September 2, 1967. The series was based on the 1957 novel and featured a storyline involving Day as a character. David Niven co-starred with Doris Day as Lawrence and Kate Mackay, parents struggling with home, life, and family. Lawrence opts to leave his job teaching at a school and decides to leave his job teaching at a theater. The series ran for 58 half-hour episodes and starred Patricia Crowley and Mark Miller. The 1960 Metrocolor comedy film in CinemaScope was released on April 22, 1967, and aired on April 22, 1967.
