In this experiment, a student measures plant growth by placing one plant in the dark and one in artificial light. He hypothesizes that the plant in artificial light will grow larger over time. The independent variable is the type of light environment, which is controlled or changed in the experiment.
The experiment involves tracing leaves on graph paper and counting squares covered to estimate the surface area for each leaf. The student also measures the amount of oxygen produced by plants in equal-sized containers with equal amounts of soil. Plant height was determined for six plants in each treatment unit a day before harvesting using the procedures described by Wood and Roger.
The experiment aims to determine how plastic, in different amounts, can affect a plant and its growth in the time period of time. Students will need a milk carton filled with good soil, bean seeds, string to support the plants, and graph paper to record results.
In this experiment, the independent variable is the type of light environment. The student hypothesizes that the plant in artificial light will grow larger than the plant in the dark. To replicate the experiment, students could give the plants different quantities of fertilizer in their soil to test its effect on the plant’s growth.
In conclusion, the experiment focuses on measuring plant growth and development using different types of light environments. The independent variable is the type of light environment, and the experiment aims to provide valuable insights into the effects of different types of fertilizers on plant growth.

CBS2’s Ali Bauman has the latest on a unique science project that looked at the effect bullying a plant has on its life.
What is the dependent variable in a plant growth experiment?
The objective of the study is to investigate the impact of sunlight on plant growth. To this end, four plants are placed in each row and subjected to different amounts of sunlight. The control variables include the type of plant, the number of seeds, the availability of water, and the time elapsed. The simulation is part of the Health in Our Hands collection, which aims to observe and record the height of the plants.
How can we measure growth?
To calculate growth rate percentage, use the basic formula by subtracting the original from the new value and dividing the results by the original value. To calculate the average growth rate, divide the present by the past value, multiply by 1/N (years), and subtract the result by 1. To calculate the internal growth rate, divide net income by average total assets and retain earnings by net income. These calculations help in understanding the overall growth rate and retention ratio of a company.
How do you write a hypothesis for plant growth?
To write a hypothesis, use an if-then statement to express the cause-and-effect relationship. Collect data to support your hypothesis, as it is a means to an end. The priority of scientific research is the conclusion, and if your research proves wrong, it’s part of the scientific method. Write with confidence, as recording your findings in a research paper requires a different skill set than conducting experiments. Ideally, you will collect data to support your hypothesis, but don’t worry if your research ends up proving it wrong.
What is the dependent variable for the experiment?
A dependent variable is the outcome of an experiment that changes due to the manipulation of an independent variable. It is also known as response, outcome, or left-hand-side variables. In statistics, these variables can be response, outcome, or left-hand-side. However, including multiple dependent variables requires multiple research questions. For instance, to study the effect of a diet on health, multiple measures of health, such as blood sugar, blood pressure, weight, and pulse, can be used as dependent variables with their own research questions.
How to do growth experiments?
This article explains the growth experimentation process, which is a systematic approach to testing new ideas and strategies to grow a business. It involves brainstorming customer problems, prioritizing growth experiments, creating experiments to test, and running them on the target audience. Growth experimentation is fundamental to every SaaS business, as it helps turbocharge growth prospects and drive customer success.
It involves developing hypotheses about what will drive growth, designing and running experiments to test those hypotheses, and analyzing the results to make informed decisions about how to move forward.
What is the best way to measure a plant?
In order to ascertain the height of a given plant, it is necessary to measure from the base of the stem to the top of the canopy. The latter is typically identified as the tip of the apical bud. If necessary, provide support for the stem, but avoid extending the leaves. The measurement should be taken from the highest point of the plant, with the stem supported.
What were the two variables in the plant growth experiment?
The objective of the experiment was to ascertain the relationship between light exposure and plant growth. The findings demonstrated that as the duration of light exposure increased, the height of the plant also increased. This suggests that the two variables were pivotal in determining the optimal growth conditions for a plant.

How do you measure plant growth in an experiment?
The experiment aims to determine the effect of compost on plant germination and growth. The measurements used for growth indicators include plant height, leaf size, and dry weight. The protocol for conducting plant growth experiments in the laboratory can be adjusted for greenhouse or outdoor use. The experiment involves using pots or planting trays, compost, soil, seeds, and light source (sunlight or artificial).
What is the most accurate way to measure plant growth is by measuring?
Dry weight is a reliable measure of plant growth due to the high water content in plants. Science Buddies will be performing maintenance on October 1, 2024, for two hours, and will be unavailable for two hours. To capture data on plant health, record at least one final weight measure, one measure of root health, and all observation measurements. Remove plants from soil, wash off loose soil, gently blot them with a soft paper towel, and weigh them immediately to avoid drying and producing inaccurate data. Waiting to weigh may lead to drying and inaccurate data.

Realize that the same results happen when we bully our selves by looking in the mirror and condemning our body by saying things like “I look fat, I’m ugly, I look terrible, and etc”. Our bodies received these negative messages and begin to wilt. Self bullying is in my opinion the cause of many diseases like cancer, obesity and others. Friends, learn to love yourselves every day and only say good things to yourself in the mirror and all the day. This will please your body so much and just like the plant that received good vibes your body will flourish too; I promise!! 😊😊
Masaru Emoto has done similar experiments with water and rice. He believed that human consciousness changes the molecular structure of water. He would play smoothing songs to one water and saw it’s structure, which was nice and uniformed. Then it’d play negative words to it and the water would look chaotic. Likewise, he put the exact same containers of rice on the counter, with one having positive words affixed on it and the other negative words. The with negative words turned from white to black in a matter of days.
I mean the actual amazing part of this experiment is that the plant is demonstrating consciousness. A plant reacting to words and intentions proves that consciousness doesn’t come from the a human brain it exists in all living things. Consciousness may even be intrinsic property of matter itself, and if that’s true, all consciousness is connected because all matter comes from a singularity.
there was no control, and both subjects were in the same vicinity of the bullying and nice talk. They were on the same windowsill, so there was no distinction. Also, insults like “fat” and ‘’stupid” are social constructs, so what are they actually measuring (tone/ sound wavelength?) This is poorly designed and one cannot gain any significance from this “study.” It could be a poetic analogy, but it is far from conclusive science.
While I’m somewhat convinced by the experiment, I still have reservations, not due to negative thinking. But rather, my reservations are from a little more non-conventional scientific (if I could call it that.). Had I been the designer of the experiment, I’d have had gone further – reversing the plants’ treatment for another 30 days, recognizing the fact that the plants were in different states. I’d love to see if the plants progress were actually reversed. That would have been a much more concrete and powerful message – The undeniable power of love and kindness! And Spoken language actually translates into cosmos energy. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the experiment as it was.
This is interesting, but it would be more scientific if this was a blind study – meaning the students and teacher were unable to actually see the plants they were communicating with. What is needed is to remove the effect of consciousness on matter because thoughts and expectations can influence the results as other types of experiments have proven.
Matthew 21:18-22 (ESV) Jesus Curses the Fig Tree 18 In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he became hungry. 19 And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once. 20 When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?” 21 And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. 22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
Wait WHAT!!! Our surrounding environment effects our very heath and over livelihood? Hmm, no wonder why! I remember the opposite growing up. People I didn’t even know always complimenting me and those around us all. People even at the very least build up each other, not cutting each down, mocking in disrespects, not stepping over another. No, that’s not how we held ourselves in The Bubble City of Psyops, Irvine.
So many studys try it but they all cheated. The bullied plant doesn’t grow less because it’s getting bullied. They try to show kids that bullying is bad and can hurt. But it’s true that it’s better for your plants to talk to them, because you stimulate light wind. And this helps the plant grow better, you can do the same thing with classic music. But there is no difference if you bully a plant or not. It’s just for kids to know that bullying can hurt.
It amazes me that all of these plants understand English. What if we tried talking to them in another language, same results? Also, why are there only two plants. There should be a third plant that we don’t talk to at all or a plant that we use only sign language, just kidding. It is true that the words we speak matter. God’s Word speaks of this many times. Once an insult is spoken it can only be forgiven and not forgotten, so words really do matter. But, I’m not convinced that plants understand our words. In trying to keep an open-mind, I will say maybe our words changes the atmosphere which in-turn effects growth.
This experiment needs more research I believe it’s connected towards healing the planet 🤔???? Dose hate expel some kind of harmful substance that kills and destroy material matter??? If it hurts humans and plants what other harm dose it do specially in an enormous amount being putting out. I know there has been some progress being made in this area has it made a difference in the glaciers and the ozone layer????? I would like to know that data.
It’s amazing how God’s Word has all the answers already! “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.” Proverbs 18:21. Jesus also cursed a fig tree and it withered up and died by the next day. God was right all along!
I am kind of curious to try this now. I have to admit, I kind of wonder if the experiments are conducted as they say, or if the bullied plant in reality is less taken care of, even if they say they give them the same care. What would the best method be, I wonder? I do have a pliea plant. I was considering to make two little new ones from the old plant, treat them both with care, and make sure they are both ‘viable’ and in a similar condition. And then start talking to them daily, and see what happens. Give them both the best possible conditions in terms of light, air quality and fertiliser, and put them next to each other in the window. And then, if the plant starts to grow, maybe try and switch their roles, see if that makes a difference? And finally third stage, if it does happen, nurse both plants back to full health. ❤🩹 That should cover all variables, right? Though I think I would feel terrible for the plant I had to be mean to. 😢💔
