How To Water A Plant Crown Of Thorns?

The crown of thorns plant is a tropical and subtropical succulent that requires minimal watering. It prefers temperatures between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit and no particular humidity. To maintain its health, water the plant one or two days before taking cuttings to ensure sufficient water in the stems. Use a sterile cutting tool and follow these simple golden rules to keep the plant healthy and happy.

Crown of thorns plants need bright, direct sunlight, temperatures of 65-90°F (18-32°C), low humidity, and fast-draining sandy soil. Water when the top inch of soil has dried, and ensure there is no water collecting near the roots. In temperate environments, water the plant when the top three inches of soil have dried before watering in winter months.

During growth cycles, water the crown of thorns once a week, but only once a month while dormant. When not in direct sunlight, water the crown of thorns once a month. When not in direct sunlight, water the crown of thorns when the soil feels dry about 1 inch below the surface. After repotting, water the crown of thorns lightly to settle the soil and avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot.

Minimum watering should be done once every three weeks, allowing the soil to dry out between sessions. Crown of thorns are typically grown indoors where they can be watered when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch.

In summary, the crown of thorns plant requires proper care, including providing bright, direct sunlight, low humidity, and well-draining soil. Watering should be minimal and avoid overwatering to maintain its health and happiness.
