Plant Growth Substrate is a concentrate used under gravel to provide nutrients for plant roots and ensure healthy and long-term growth in aquariums. It is laid in a 1 cm thick layer on the bottom of the aquarium when built, and then covered with a layer of gravel 3-4cm thick. The gravel caps the substrate so it is not released into the water column. Plant plants directly into the gravel, avoiding disturbing the Plant Growth Substrate underneath.
Aquarium Soil is a complete substrate system designed for planted aquariums, feeding plant roots and providing an ideal home for bacteria, fish, and invertebrates. To use the product, first place all decoration material (such as stones or roots) on the substrate and cover it with at least 4 cm of gravel.
Plant growth substrate is essential for optimal growth in the future. It absorbs nutrients and makes them available for plant roots. Choose healthy and disease-free tissue culture plants from the Tropica 1-2 Grow! brand for your aquarium and follow the steps to remove, rinse, and plant the plants in the substrate for optimal growth.
There are different types of substrates for planted tanks, including aquasoils, inert sands, gravel, and DIY options. Learn about how substrates affect water parameters, plant growth, and aquascaping. Plant Growth Substrate is placed in a layer of 1cm thickness on the bottom of the aquarium when built, and the amount depends on the size of the aquarium. For steep hills, use crushed basalt (top), Tropica substrate (middle), and pumice (bottom). For more heavily planted tanks, replace the pumice.

I will testify to this product. I used it with a 5 gallon “nano” tank and the results were fantastic (I`m a novice). I stayed with their product, followed the instruction, used the CO2 canister system and the results were stunning. My tank was overwhelmed with plant growth in three months. Plants were pearling, oxygen was high and the fish (beta) was extremely healthy and happy. I`m still learning and plan to do a 2.5 gallon “nano” now. I`ll be using the ‘Tropica’ system again. I recommend it especially to those who like small setups while also understanding the smaller, the more challenging–but the most rewarding.
What nutrition value does this substrate has?? For how much time will it last? Also, will I need to add liquid fertilizer + with this substrate or I will have algae? The plants I’m planning to put is sagittaria subulata, rotala rotundifolia, and hygrophilia polysperma.. the tank is 20 liters, the lighting I have is 1 led 6000k 10 watt (near 1000 lumen) and one grow lamp (20red+16blue) 3 watt…
@rexlinkfish Yes there are. Check it out here: tropica.com/en/find-dealers/ I have contacted Tropica through their website and asked about their map. Every time i was checking it out, there was a different dealer for my country. What they are doing is to update the map with the pet shop that stocked plants from Tropica within the previous 4 weeks. This way you know everytime where to buy fresh plants from. All the previous dealers are being removed and only the latest are shown. If you want to know specifically about your area contact them and they will let you know. They have not only great products but also great support as well.
