How To Irrigate Stardew Valley Pumpkins?

Pumpkin is a crop in Stardew Valley that can grow into a giant crop after 13 days. It is one of the highest-value cash crops in the area and is used in the Sewing Machine with Cloth in the feed to create a dyeable Button Down Shirt. Pumpkin seeds can be planted in a 3×3 grid and watered as normal.

A pumpkin can be grown during the Fall and takes 13 days to mature. It is sold through shipping containers for various weights, such as No Star (320g), Silver (400g), and Gold (100g). At the start of each day, every possible 3×3 grid of crops (including overlaps) has a 1 chance to grow into a giant crop as long as the center crop is fully-grown.

Watering pumpkins daily is essential, and you can use a watering can or invest in sprinklers to automate the process. Fertilizer can significantly improve the growth of pumpkins. Pumpkins are grown for their crunchy seeds and delicately flavored flesh, and their hollow shell can be carved into festive decorations.

To water pumpkins, aim your character towards the spot you want to water and click after or before the harvest ready crop. Choose one of the eligible crops (Cauliflower, Melons, or Pumpkins) and plant the seeds in a 3×3 grid. Water them as normal. However, you can only plant as many plants as you have space for.

  • Just wondering, but do you have to keep watering the Giant Crop? Like say if your farm doesn’t have the Sprinklers or a water can to get that center square watered. Or is it, once it’s produced, no watering required until harvested? Thanks for the article! EDIT: actually nevermind, cuz I was at the point where cauliflower was created before Giant crop, and found it difficult to water the center areas, without harvesting the crop by accident.

  • I’m doing everything right and I STILL don’t have a giant crop. It’s been 2 seasons now. There must be something I’m doing wrong! I’m planting them in 3×3 squares and I leave them there ALL season and still no giant crops. Sometimes I’ll use the fertilizer other times I won’t but I still should have gotten at least 1 giant crop. Nothing.
