This free greenhouse plan is for a barn-style greenhouse that can be built in your backyard. It provides a controlled environment for plants to grow, allowing them to thrive as early as March and extend harvest into late fall. A mini greenhouse is also a great place to store less hardy plants during harsh weather conditions.
To make a mini greenhouse, cut frame pieces, make shelf cleats, assemble the frame, build and attach the angled top, and make the necessary screws. The most common method for building a self-supporting structure is to make four frames and screw them together in the corners. These frames can be easily assembled on the ground and lifted up into the greenhouse.
Materials needed for a mini greenhouse include 25x50mm timber, 4mm polycarbonate sheets, screws, and rot-resistant wood like Macrocarpa or treated Pine. Greenhouse plastic can be used for UV-resistant greenhouses. To create your own mini-greenhouse, use a wooden wine box, acrylic (1 sheet), wood stain, exterior glue, and hinges.
These free DIY greenhouse plans include diagrams, photos, and instructions. The steps include choosing a spot, framing the walls, building the roof, installing the siding, installing the door and window, building shelves or bringing in shelves, drilling pilot holes through the wooden legs, inserting screws into the supports, and checking for right-angled corners.
