Growing Instructions For Yellow Bell Flowers?

Yellow Bells (Tecoma stans) is a native desert landscape plant that produces bright yellow trumpet-shaped flowers. It grows up to 10-25 ft. tall and 10-20 ft. wide, but can be kept about 6-8 ft. tall and wide. The plant is easy to grow and maintain in fertile, organically rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun or part sun.

To grow Yellow Bells, choose a location with plenty of sunlight, at least six hours of direct sun per day, and plant them in nutrient-rich, well-draining soil. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings and protect them from freezing temperatures. Plant Yellow Bells in a 5.0″ pot and provide them with 0.8 cups of water every 9 days when they don’t get direct sunlight.

Yellow Bells do best when planted in fall so they have several months to grow a good root system before the summer heat. They grow best in well-drained soils with regular water through late spring to sustain robust growth and heavy flowering. Pruning longer stems after the first frost can help maintain their lush growth.

The wider-leafed form of Yellow Bells, Tecoma stans var. stans, can be selectively pruned into a 25-foot-high tree in frost-free areas. This plant is easy to grow and maintain, making it an attractive addition to any garden.

  • Hey there from Houston, Tx. Love love love my Esperanza as we call it here. I keep the pods pulled off so it will keep blooming but now I will leave few on to dry out since perusal you an how to treat them. Mine shot up 7 ft tall an bushy all around. I propped the stalks to stand tall. Bubble bees, butterflies an hummingbirds love it. So hardy in our 2 1/2 months no rain and 100 degree hot spell. It never looked sad an watered only some. I bought the golden one but not as lovely as the yellow.
