Does A Steel Frame Contain Wood Greenhouse?

A steel-framed greenhouse is a more durable option than a wood-framed one, as it can last longer and cost less than the lumber needed for the frame. Common materials for greenhouse frames include wood, aluminum, galvanized steel, PVC plastic, and resin. Wooden frame greenhouses can last up to 50 years if maintained properly, but require more care than some modern materials.

Cedar is the most versatile material available for a greenhouse structure, and pressure treated lumber, cedar, and redwood can also be used. When building a wooden greenhouse frame, consider all city bylaws and building codes. A steel frame has fewer and smaller roof beams than a wood frame of the same strength, which means it won’t retain heat and won’t keep plants warm in winter.

However, metal frames are generally stronger than wood and will hold up better in earthquake-prone areas. Permanent greenhouse structure materials include wood (Cedar/Redwood), fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), rebar EMT Conduit Square steel tubing, and other materials.

When choosing between metal-framed and wood-framed greenhouses, it is important to choose the right location for your greenhouse and consider factors such as city bylaws and building codes. Metal frames are generally stronger than wood and can hold up better in earthquake-prone areas.
