Do Casa Blanca Flowers Smell Strongly Of Something?

The Oriental Lily Casa Blanca is a popular choice among gardeners and flower enthusiasts due to its intensely sweet and captivating scent. This variety of lilies, known as Lilium ‘Casa Blanca’, is prized for its large, pure white blooms and intoxicating fragrance. These lilies can grow up to 4 feet tall and feature multiple flowers.

The Casa Blanca Lily is bred for beauty, featuring large, lovely, outward-facing, bowl-shaped, milky-white flowers with gracefully recurved petals and contrasting red-orange anthers. Heavily scented, this elegant Lily can produce up to 6-8 blossoms per stem and will steal your heart. The fragrance is a bitter loss, as some Oriental lilies have virtually no fragrance, while others are described as being incredibly strong.

One of the most popular Oriental lilies we sell is the ‘Casa Blanca’. Its pure, ivory white blooms make it a true showstopper. However, the fragrance can sometimes be too strong and unpleasant in confined spaces. The Casablanca lily smells like a cross between carnation and tuberose, making it a standout among the group of bulbs noted for yielding large flowers, vigorous growth, and sweet perfume.

Intensely scented, from the first blossom opening until when the last petal falls, Lilium ‘Casa Blanca’ is a standout among the most popular cut flowers among florists. Growing this lily in bright but indirect light is essential for the best results. Overall, the Casa Blanca Lily is a stunning flower that adds elegance and fragrance to any garden.

When purchasing Calla Lilies, look for the harvesting stage when the spadix is visible, firm stems, and brown tips. Look for pliable stems, smooth, firm, wrinkle-free flowers, and no pollen on the stamen. Calla lilies do not have a scent and can be difficult to handle in foam due to thick but soft stem ends. Use low-density foam like OASIS® Springtime Floral Foam Maxlife.

Callas are beautiful, feminine, and elegant flowers perfect for weddings. They are typically long and thick, so secure floral foam when making arrangements. They can be opened gently by hand to uncurl the spadix if needed. They are ideal for large vase arrangements or single flowers for wedding rose ceremonies.

Calla lily sap may drip after cutting stems, but it won’t appear until after laundering. When using calla lilies in bouquets or boutonnieres, be sure to cover the stems ends. They are also commonly used at funerals, but the stain won’t appear until after laundering.

  • Wonderful. I need to get some white lilies myself as moths like white flowers they can see easily at night, I have white agapanthus though and hopefully the moths will like those! I did get two amazing looking black lilies though which I planted (lilium nightrider) which may be good for bees and hoverflies.
