Do Asian Lilies Rebloom Following De-Seeding?

Asiatic lilies (Lilium Asiatica) are a popular type of lily known for their showy, fragrant, and easy-to-grow nature. However, when the blooms fade and the stem is bare, they can rebloom. Deadheading is a process that involves removing spent flowers from the stem to prevent the plant from diverting its energy towards new buds.

As Asiatic lilies do rebloom after deadheading, it may take a while. To encourage your lily to rebloom, deadhead the blooms and prepare the plant for next year’s blooms. Deadheading is not necessary as it does not encourage new flowers to bloom. Once a stem has finished blooming, cutting off the spent flowers is not going to make way for any new buds.

Lilies are attractive food for some rodents and mammals, such as mice, deer, and rabbits. Deadheading these lilies will not spur another bloom and is not necessary. Instead, you can snip any fading flowers under where the petal stocks meet the stem. Deadheading lilies will encourage more flowers to form and prolong their display, ensuring that your plant is dedicating its energy towards beautiful blooms.

When cutting flowers for bouquets, leave at least one-third of the stem on the plant. Deadheading these lilies will not spur another bloom and may cause the plant to divert its energy towards new buds. In summary, deadheading is a great way to ensure that your Asiatic lily is dedicating its energy towards beautiful blooms.
