Thanks for the article. In my experience, I have not needed to add the item as input in Sir-5rm8’s inventory. I simply allow the items to be withdrawn from somewhere and add them as inputs in my preferred container. Besides the actual crafting, you can probably get them to nearly automate your farming and related manufacturing processes, which is especially useful with narcotics. You can have them harvest seeds, and add them to a crop plot alongside fertilizer out of the compost bin. When they are ready, the robot can grab the berries, place them in a chemistry bench with some spoiled meat it took from a trough and after they are combined, put them in a storage box somewhere.

The automaton is the perfect thing but it isn’t really that well executed. You need to constantly on rendering distance for them to do things right. Very inconsistent. Also, they over encumbered and stop. Like, no one on Wild Card thought about maybe having it coded so that it doesn’t just stop once is full? No one?! 😂
